He's more about himself than his team. His arrogance is unearned. He has been successful in some bigtime situations and remarkably tone deaf and an utter failure in others. His timing, reasons, and actions in the 10 days prior to his departure from Alabama reveal all there is to know about Lane Kiffin. He betrayed his benefactor, his career savior, his mentor in every meaningful way at the most important moment of his career. And now he's in that exact situation again.

LK can't be trusted. Without trust there is nothing. Sending his wife and son to Gainesville and Baton Rouge was a slap in the face of every Ole Miss fan - and the ugly truth is Lane really doesn't care. There are good people, bad people, and those somewhere in between - Lane is in the middle leaning toward bad.

Lane’s Firing on the Tarmac

quote:

Locksley

I remember in the middle of the game, we were winning pretty handily, and anybody who's worked for Coach [Saban] knows he's a class act when it comes to that stuff. He made the decision -- when he tells you to take the air out of the ball, as he likes to say, that means slow things down. We don't need to try to score. Keep the clock moving.

Well, Lane missed that conversation on the headset, and threw a Sluggo touchdown to Gehrig Dieter, and I can remember Coach on the headset saying, "Hey man, does it make you feel any better that you're doing this? Does it get you your job back?"

And I can remember Lane saying, 'No, it doesn't, but it sure feels good.'

And Coach went off on him after that.

quote:

Davis

Someday, when they write an epitaph for Lane Kiffin, it's going to be, "He couldn't help himself."

The fact that Saban, who hired him after he was fired at USC, fired him weeks before a national championship game - and likely cost himself and Alabama a national championship - tells you how toxic Lane is when he checks out and starts living for Lane.

A lot of Alabama fans did and still do hope he is Alabama’s head coach. But I think he burned that bridge.

You think any LSU fan gives a flying frick about anything you just mentioned regarding Lane if he goes to LSU and dominates?

Cost himself a title? Come on man. This makes zero sense to anyone who watched that game. You scored in every quarter. Defense gave up 21 in the fourth quarter and a touchdown with hardly any time left on the clock.

Lane is just a human being trying to go after a better job than the one he has currently. That’s what we all do in this life. Why don’t you all just shut the frick up and let him do what he wants to do. You may not agree with it, but who cares? He’s LSU’s problem now, and we welcome it.

My favorite LaME Kiffin moment when at Bama was Saban's mistake of letting Kiffin run the complete offense against Ohio St. and it cost Bama another National Championship.

IMO the main reason Saban hired Kiffin in the first place as OC is Saban knew LK was the best offensive mind in the college football.
Nick wanted to figure out defensively how to Stop these new wide open offienses.

By my count he cost Alabama 2 national championships. They were running against Ohio State at will when Lane decided to go to the air.
