As many of you know, the committee ranks in pods. That means this last poll ranked OU, Oregon, Alabama, and ND between each other. Well, we might have an issue brewing because of this

The committee moved Miami to 13 this last week. They were ranked in a seperate pod, so head to head never came into play.

Well, Notre Dame came off a Pitt win. That same Pitt team beat Georgia Tech tonight. Miami plays Pitt next week.

There is a very real chance that Miami wins against Pitt and sneaks into our pod. Using the current logic (ND > Bama), we find ourselves in a bit of situation where Miami may “jump” Notre Dame due to head to head pushing us out of the picture.

The end result means, that if we beat Auburn, the SECCG becomes a play in game for us if Miami Is not in the ACC championship game (which leads to two ACC bids - Miami last in + ACC CG winner)

I’ll leave that there, but figured it would be worth throwing out into a discussion. On a personal basis I’m still not sure how Notre Dame is ahead of us in the first place.

Notre Dame bias has a long and sordid history.

Notre Dame bias is real but based on an illusion that are have been great historically lately. They play a couple tough games and the rest cupcakes. This year they played Miami, Texas AM which I am sure wasnt expected to be as good as they are, and USC.

I want to say Irish got up big early but ran the score up. Love had a rushing TD while up 42 points and 49 points.

No it isn't. The media loves Notre Dame. They lose to every team with a pulse, every year, and still somehow end up in the top 20.

If Miami has to jump us by default of trumping ND because of being a “pod” we share despite us being ahead of them by general criteria. then that just shows the pod ranking as a unit is poorly thought out.

Beat OU and there would have been no worries.

I’m hopeful someone comes to their senses on the committee and realizes how stupid they look for ranking certain teams above Alabama considering their respective resumes. Every media personality I saw and heard yesterday wanted to know why the rankings are the way they are when Bama’s resume is better at every objective measurement. Maybe the ridicule will open somebody’s eyes that matter to counter that biased idiot Yurachek.

Bama has to beat the Barn and A&M to advance to the CFP.

This is just my opinion,

If everything stays as it is Miami can’t get to 10. They could get to 11, or 12 but that doesn’t help them. The ACC conference champ is going to jump them at 11 and the committee will use that exact phrase as reason why. Miami didn’t make it because they didn’t win yada yada.

Utah won they are 12 , BYU won they are 11

Now if Texas Tech beats BYU in the B12 Championship and they get punished and drop BYU, then you know it’s happening to us as well. However BYU will get jumped anyway like we did without actually losing their spot, if you follow me. We just happen to be in the last un jumpable spot.

There is no way we play the top sos in the country with the most ranked wins and same losses as teams in our pod and get left out.

The committee doesn’t punish conference championship game losers.

If we beat Auburn, we'll beat TAMU. I think we'd beat a&M by 2 scores.

You're basing this on something they've said this year? Bama isn't getting in with 3 losses.

You can only say this is if you were on the committee or they had very precise rules written out like there are the SEC CG tie breakers.

We don’t actually know what they think right now. They’re inconsistent and I don’t think many of us trust them

We control our own destiny.

Just win and let everyone else worry about what the committee decides to do.

I've already been under the assumption that if we lose the SECCG we're not getting in.

We need to do away with conference championship games, and award the top team in the conference at the end of the regular season the title.

We also need to stop scheduling OOC P5 games. We're just fricking ourselves as we move to 9 SEC games

Oregon at #5 in the new AP poll is laughable. Then Lanning after the game yesterday said the SEC played cupcakes yesterday. Ok Dan. Smh.
