I had to run to town a little bit ago and was listening to WJOX which is a sports radio station in Birmingham. The host said that Matt Moscona was on yesterday and he said that he is hearing that LSU is willing to go as high as 16 million a year to hire Kiffin. He didn’t say how many years they would offer. It must be nice to be wanted lol!!

Well according to Moscona it could very well happen. Don’t know how accurate he is in his reporting.

If Kiffin gets paid 16 million a year then Saban should raise hell with Alabama that he didn’t get paid like that.

No, and he'll never live up to LSU's absurd expectations.

He just said LSU is willing to go that high. I don’t know if he will actually ask for that much. I don’t know much about Matt Moscona. I don’t know if he is the type of guy that would get that kind of info out of the LSU people in the know or not.

To answer your question, no.

When will the public begin to understand that these generational salaries being paid to coaches are public money meaning belonging to the state. Quite frankly, this has been out of control for years and sooner or later the public will figure it out.

No fricking football coach is/in before the fundamentalist capitalists start with “they’re worth what the market says they’re worth.”

IDK. What's the highest-paid coach in the NFL? Surely, he's in the CFB equivalent of that tier.

Well the guy on the radio joked that he would be making more than the coach for the Saints lol.

I agree that it's ridiculous and completely out of control but, the majority od a college coaches salary comes from boosters, not the state. That's a huge reason for why it's out of control; the Universitys don't run it like a business or, at least, fiscally responsibly, because they're spending Monopoly money.

A lot of money for a head coach who hasn't even won a conference title

Depends. Does he get eyeballs during TV slots, sellout stadiums, etc? A ton of money can be made if doing well.

No amount of money is going to entice someone to move to Baton Rouge, and this is from someone who lived there 10 years. He is just getting his yearly salary increase by interviewing at LSU and UF.

Most P4 head coaches make more than NFL head coaches.

what's absurd about expecting to be in playoff contention MOST years, with a deep run occasionally? if the last 25 years has shown us anything, its that the right fit recruits LSU/Louisiana well, and they can win a championship.

the only thing i EXPECT, that LSU hasn't had, is some damn consistency AFTER winning a title. its what made saban/bama so unreal, the ability to be hungry after reaching the peak. i don't expect those results, but i do expect to be playing games in November and be hovering around the 12 ranking. that is not unrealistic at all with competent coaching along with in-state talent and resources that are pretty top notch.

Seems someone commented on here the other day that Ole Miss is gonna pay him 15 million if he signs the contract extension. Maybe I’m remembering wrong but I don’t think I am. Hell 15 million is to much if you ask me.
