I agree that SOS is meaningless right now.

Seems like a really bad ranking to be considering guaranteed playoff spots

Definitely BS but not shocked. The PTB are getting their pound of flesh after the dominance that Alabama had under Saban. I didn’t watch tonight because I get so angry having to watch Booger McFarland trash our team.

Beat Auburn, either win SEC or lose respectfully I think we are good.

We should be 9. To put ND ahead is just totally disregarding strength of schedule and quality wins to make losses the primary criteria. ND had 2 "good" losses...Bama had 1 "bad" loss...but 3 more wins over ranked teams than ND should more than nullify that data point. It's just absolutely moronic.

Obviously it will all change, but as the brackets are right now...I'd actually prefer 10 over 9.

On the road to Oregon and then Indiana > On the road to Oklahoma and then Ohio St

Only way we get to host the first round is to win the SEC.

Yep. If it’s 10, that’s fine. I think we are better than that but I’m ok with it because it’s not as brutal a path.

If we had scheduled UAB instead of FSU, we’d be in the Top 5. Obviously FSU isn’t a good team but we chose that game over scheduling a bottom feeder. The committee has shown time and again that it’s about the losses, not the wins. Mitigate the number of losses is the goal. We saw that in 2022, 2023 (if we had scheduled anyone other Texas we were safely in) and last year. That’s why Byrne needs to seriously start recalibrating these future non conference schedules especially now that we are going to 9 SEC games. Forget selling tickets. Schedule to get to the playoff.

We keep thinking the committee is going to look at this like basketball and reward SOS and quality wins. They’re not.

I'd be fine with an Oklahoma rematch, but as we'll see in the Big Ten title game, Indiana would be much preferred over Ohio St.

While neither have played a legit schedule, OSU has the guns. I think Indiana is a fraud...and probably Oregon too.

Exactly. Sankey is a coward for giving into that and Byrne should never have gone along. The Big 10 can do that because they have two extra teams and their scheduling allows for teams to avoid other good teams.

Mitigate the potential for losses. That’s the signal from the CFP Committee and we need to start listening to that.

Just leave the conference. And then schedule the SEC teams and non SEC teams that we want.

Simple.

Go USC vs Oregon
Go Missouri vs Oklahoma
Go Syracuse vs Notre Dame

They all go on the road but maybe someone can get a win. Would be a 3rd loss for Oklahoma and Notre Dame

There's a team ahead of us with two losses and one ranked win.
