Love Deboer or hate him, I’m so glad our coaching search wasn’t a debacle

You can endlessly debate if Deboer was the right guy, but it genuinely seemed like Byrne had a plan and executed that plan to perfection. In basically 3 days, the new coach was in town.

I know it’s different in-season than after, but this mess that LSU and, to a lesser extent, Florida is in makes me so thankful it was over quickly and efficiently.

I still wouldn't trade DeBoer for any of the "top" candidates being talked about now.

Would only trade him for Kirby, no one else.

I think if given time Deboer will have maintained success here. He seems super smart and doesn’t overly react. Like myself, lol. I believe he will tweak things as he grows and continues. Glad he is ours

I think he’s done a really good job this year. The last game was a comedy of errors and ball security.

1st loss really inexcusable but I don’t fault him much for the OU game. If he wins out this regular season we will be 3-0 in rivalry games, playing in the SEC Championship game, and set to make the playoffs. If you have me that in the preseason I’d have taken it.

Depending on the timing GA fans might make this trade. Fans are stupid and want to fire their coach because their team loses a game or fails to win a championship. A few years ago, people were begging for Saban to hand things up, the game had passed him by.

The way everything is setup now, you make a change at HC then you're pretty much F'ed for 2 years instead of one.

Coach Deboer has beat Kirby twice...
He's a GREAT coach... We're lucky to have him..
Anyone who wants him gone(at this point) is a moron..

Saturday was strictly lost on execution and securing the ball.
If Bama doesn’t commit stupid turnovers, they defeat the Oklahoma nerds by multiple scores.
All this shite about “run the dayum bawl” are from rednecks stuck in time.
Do they want us to turn into Iowa? LOL!
Coach DeBoer was the best available option at the time. Talks of bringing back someone like Jimbo Fisher after the FSU loss was frightenly hilarious.

If there is any failure by the coaches in that game, it was mainly the execution and game situation understanding that prevents those turnovers. The pick six is whatever, probably due to a missed DPI and Ty made the correct read. The two fumbles were poor understanding of the game situation. Simpson has got to get the ball out when a free rusher is coming and broadly speaking know the lifespan of a pocket. Ryan Williams got to stop trying to extend a play beyond its shelf life too. He’s had several fumbles in his career that amount to “a small guy like him can’t be juking around 3 or more defenders.”

Trying to do too much is what lost us this game. Oklahoma won this game by going into their shell like a turtle on offense and just waiting for us to self destruct due to our own greediness and poor decision-making.

Whatever they’re saying isn’t getting through well enough to the players.

I view the hire more long term and acknowledge his age (50) and short stint so far (6-7 years) means he’s still very much learning

But for a guy this early on in his career, this year has been pretty solid. Recruiting is fine and running well, portal usage is great, he seems to have everything clicking after the FSU haymaker. Our conference schedule is absurd this year and we might come out 7-1 with 5-6 games against top 30/40 teams.

I think he gets it and hopefully we can close out Auburn so we can just chalk up a successful regular season

So much depends on the Iron Bowl now...difference between a good year and momentum by winning or what would get labeled another "disappointing" season...even after beating Georgia, Tennessee and LSU.

I'd love to finally see them clicking on both sides of the ball and take that into the playoffs.

While this sucks it's kind of poetic.

KDB has the staff and talent to get this win and if he does it changes the perception of him, his staff and this team.

I have no doubt he will be pumped up and motivated.. he was against OU. The question is will our ST, Offense or even shockingly.. our defense make mistakes which are costly.

Let's pray they don't.

In the end if Ty Simpson.. the first pick of the draft Ty Simpson shows up we beat everybody.

Byrne could find a random assistant and Bama would still thrive.

He won the SEC in his 3rd year, beating a SOS-coached team at the top of the conference twice in one year and finished #3 in the nation, losing in the Orange Bowl to a Michigan team led by Tom Brady by a missed extra point (imagine that) in OT, after having inherited a program hobbled by sanctions.

Then, he couldn’t keep his dick in his pants and lost control of the program and the rest is history.

Our last coaching search was a debacle...until suddenly it wasn't. And it gave us the greatest coach in history.

Who do you fault for us arguably having the worst running game in the history of the program?
