I personally have no clue why Kiffin would go anywhere else - especially if he finishes the season 11-1. The only thing I can guess is the Rebels can't offer him as much money as Florida or LSU.

He's got a nearly $14m a year contract on his desk from Ole Miss right now. Would make him the highest paid coach in the country.

It looks very likely he is gone. Ole Miss is lucky this is a road game if they do let him coach the game. I wouldn't let him if I was Ole Miss.

I mean I don't know who has reported it officially but it's there. It's somewhere around $13.5m base with some easy incentives though. I think a natty would get him close to $15m.

It's a timeline thing. Ole Miss will likely be in the playoffs when the only portal window opens up. You can't have Lane actively coaching Ole Miss while trying to get LSU up and going. He can't be in the same building as the players he will be trying to poach. Furthermore, since the spring portal window is closed, LSU can't afford for Lane to not be in BR building his program while Ole Miss in the playoffs.
This was not the case when Texas was courting Saban. Ole Miss is 100% doing what it has to do.
