Where the hell has this been all year? I know our young pups are getting better but it seemed like we were turning them loose in a way we haven’t yet this year. Was TX just more vulnerable or did we make changes? Where we just fired up for a big game?

That DL was shoving guys into Arch’s grill all night.

Their O line was vulnerable and they can’t run the ball at all. Their offense is also based almost totally around screens and fake screens. Keep those in check and you should be ok. We were.

The recipe to beat Texas has a lot to do with getting pressure and contact on Arch. Arch can make all of the throws when he is given time. When he’s getting pressured and hit, he struggles and forces throws.

His face on the sideline in the second half said it all. He looked shook and his play followed suit.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your 'young pups' nod. Kids have gotten better and staff has identified who the better players are. I love the way Cole and Demelo have come on and the DL may not be terrifying QBs but they are getting a good push and mostly controlling the LOS.

I am pretty sure we started slow last season(Pressuring the QB), and maybe the year before that. (I might not be remembering correctly) Seems we start off many years playing a basic defense, then as the season moves along add more blitz packages and mix them in around game #8, then slowly increase from there.

Probably a mixture of young players, newer players (NIL/Portal) and getting them acclimated, then as they mature and learn we turn them loose a bit more. It is night and day the way the defense is playing right now with more pressure, though.

That said, Texas's offense is not the greatest, so time will tell if this is a trend or a product of our opponent.

The DBs have greatly improved. Ellis Robinson was lost on the field in the first 4 or 5 games but he is playing well now. Gunnar is at the point where he can throw downfield easily and on target. That 2nd TD pass to Thomas was a beauty.

I love watching Demello Jones. That guy is capable of wrecking an offense.

This, and they penalize the shite out of themselves. Saw something today saying Texas is 129th in penalties in all of CFB this year. Their OL sucks so they hold more, thus get called more. This is also why they can't run for shite against anyone.

We should do just fine against Charlotte and GT, but in a playoff game against a quality OL, I think we'll see some struggles again on defense.

Basically, sure we've improved, naturally you improve as the season goes along with young players, but using two shitty outmatched OL's (Miss St and Texas) as gauges for how much better we are isn't wise.

3 weeks ago I looked at this team and saw a team that was trending flat, and I honestly didn't see a team that would last past the first round of the CFP. These last 3 weeks we have gotten hot and are definitely trending up in all aspects of the game: offense, defense, STs and coaching. I think we could play with any team in the country now. Don't know how it all finally snapped into place but no one is happier than me that it did.

Just watched the PFF show on YouTube. Our defensive player that graded the highest was true freshman Elijah Griffin. I believe the analyst said he had 6 QB pressures last night.

We had two missed tackles against Texas, according to the dorks over at On Texas Football.

He has really grown up over the course of the season. Tremendously impressive to be doing that as a true freshman. He’s going to be that dude over the next couple of seasons if (knock on wood) he can stay healthy.

You don't know many things about Georgia football, including how we have a young team this season and it would be a process getting to this point.

We're all the way up to 3rd in YPG allowed in conference games and 2nd in YPP.

Take away garbage time against Missippi State game, and the other team has only driven the length of the field for a touchdown once in the last 3 games.

Demello Jones set our defense on a different trajectory when he came in during the second half against Bama, and if Quintavious Johnson can repeat what he did in the Texas game, then shite watch out!

It's what Kirby always says. The young players have to grow. Elijah Griffin has grown. The way he penetrated Texas's Oline kind of reminds me of a former two-time UGA Championship DT.

If this is true, it is a huge improvement over last season and earlier this season. I thought we had completely given up on wrapping a ball carrier up in favor of trying for ESPN Highlight hits.

Raylen Wilson had a text book example of how to make a tackle.
