Has there ever been a better time for Alabama’s big 3 sports collectively?

I’m not too young but not as old as some of the old heads on this board that migrated from tidefans ( )

Any other time where Alabama was actually better than now? The only other time I can think of where Alabama was consistently good across all 3 was the early to mid 80s where Bama baseball was amazing, basketball was pretty good and football was decent.

Both football and basketball right now are absolutely championship caliber and would have no excuse not to at least make it to right before or at the championship game this season. Baseball I’m not sure of.

What do you think? And what of Greg Byrne? Is he a bit brand progressive for your taste for a southern school like Alabama or does it have long term benefits?

Probably the best health the big three sports have been in at the same time. Baseball is pretty set to make a big jump this season.

Probably.

Peak for programs OVERALL was probably 2011-2012-2013 with multiple National Championships throughout our sports....... and that was Anthony Grant's high water era where it looked like the next level was just a season away.

Hell, the volleyball team was an NCAA tournament tier program, everything was seemingly firing on all cylinders or reving up.

I disagree. They are coming off a 40 win season. Three straight NCAA tournament appearances. Great recruiting and use of portal. Great young coach in Rob Vaughn. The program is as healthy as it’s been since Jim Wells retired in 2009.

Bryant and CM Newton in the 1970s compare pretty well. The difference is the NCAA tourney was limited to 1 team per conference until 1975. Even after that it was still only 32 teams and 2 per conference for the rest of the decade so CM had very few chances to make tourney runs.

I would bet my mortgage that Alabama spends more on the Million dollar band than they do on baseball.

Yea the baseball program is in as good of a place as it’s been in a while. It would be foolish to consistently expect them to get on the level the football and basketball programs are on given the support the baseball program receives.

Grant was hoping to get us into the tournament.

Oats is trying to cutting down nets.

His hire in my sport pushed us from top 10 teams to we lost a tri meet to lsu yesterday. Lsu's swimming history is the epitome of straight up arse. The difference in hiring someone with decades of experience coaching vs none Rick Bishop was coaching olympic medalists when Margo was still in diapers.

Yep, baseball requires too many roster spots for a men's sport under Title IX constraints when your athletics department competes in football . Your baseball teams is building a roster with partial scholarships offers. Spot on that lottery scholarships for in-state high school graduates would materially benefit in-state collegiate baseball teams. It would make those partial scholarships a bit easier to swallow.
