Kiffin's name gets thrown around for a lot of jobs that never contact him.
Or that has at least happened a lot in the past.

Hell Florida fans still don't think they offered Freeze the job back in 2015. Freeze was 100% gone until Thanksgiving, Egg bowl got him all in his feelings and he stayed.

Are you implying Alabama did?
Alabama reached out to representatives of Lanning, Norvell and DeBoer. Lanning never materialized, he wasn't interested. Alabama got somewhat involved in back and forth conversations with Norvell and DeBoer. For better or worse, Lane wasn't part of it.

I don't think any of that is true but I do think Byrne wasn't interested because of his time here as OC. Personally, think he's clearly changed for the better since then, but not my call. He's now added 2 more years of clear maturing and stacked solid years of running a program since then.

Yep, I've heard it said by some insiders who typically have good intel that because of that issue it would be cold day in hell before Kiffin gets an offer from Bama ... but that could change as more time passes and that's what Kiffin counting on.
Same people said that Sark was approached immediately after Saban announced his retirement but at that time he was very happy at Texas - bet he regrets that now.

He has a pretty good setup there. Not sure anything could lure him away unless he continues to be unable to win the big one up there for a few more years and decides it's some sort of institutional issue or people start to grumble.
