James Franklin as the HC with Bobby as the OC?
I just don’t like Franklin, and all the rumors are moving quicker towards him.

Yes, but Bobby isn't going to work for Franklin. Franklin is not a home run hire. Don't get the desire for him. Probably just smoke. Past few hires have been out of the blue.

I'd take that but I agree... BP and Franklin likely won't mesh.
Franklin will be a big name hire though and maybe that's what we need. It's working in Basetball....

I don’t think so either but half of everyone here keeps saying he is washed and has no offers but us..

I guess I do not get this thought process.
In 14 full seasons of being a head coach...
9 seasons of 9 or more wins
6 seasons of 10 or more wins
1 conference title
2 divisions titles
5 top 10 finishes
9 top 25 finishes
8 seasons of 3 losses or less in conference play
13 Bowls played in (Penn State declined bowl invite in Covid year)
8 NY6 Bowls/CFP
17-26 vs. Top 25 teams (4-20 vs. Top 10, 13-6 vs. 11-25)
P4 Coaches vs. AP Top 25

I’d look for somebody like Joe Moorhead to his next OC

I'm for whatever John Tyson wants and is willing to fund. I'm good with whoever we get if they get NIL support and money for an elite staff.

I think James Franklin is a huge upgrade. If the money is there and we are willing to invest, make it happen.

I’d definitely be for Franklin, but it won’t happen bc we’re here talking about it.
When’s the last time you heard rumors of coaches weeks before the hire was made, and it turned out to be that coach? It’s always someone we don’t hear about until 30 mins before the press conference is announced

you are probably 100% right.

Probably because the big names everyone talked about fell through, ala kiffin and others
But if chicken man gets his way the big names talked about actually stand a chance imo

I don't personally recall anyone talking about Calipari. That shite rocked me to the core.
Franklin is a similar caliber, albeit not quite as good choice. Cal's NC is over a decade old, but that makes a difference. Everyone talked about Pittman being here to "stabilize" and "right the ship." Any ole bullshite can happen, but James Franklin has being a consistent 9–4 written all over him.
That's what most of us realistically want, right? 8/9 wins most years, with a disappointment and chance to make a big noise at either bookend?
It's funny how close Pittman and Bert both were to satisfying the fan base. Stop losing to G5s, having second half meltdowns when you're up 17+ midway through the third, and stop being a 5–7 team's only SEC win. And there you go, 8+ wins every year. Bobby never lost the games he was supposed to win after that first year, despite some close calls. Look at the difference not dropping the 2011 A&M, Vandy, and Ole Miss games made. No coach we've had since then (including current era BP) could gut out those wins.

This is where I'm at. Everyone wants to bitch about Franklin's record vs Top 10 opponents. We need to quit losing to the likes of North Texas, WKU, Liberty, Rutgers, San Jose State, Memphis, etc. (the list can go on and on) before we bitch about a candidate's record against Top 10-15 teams. We haven't had a CULTURE of winning and confidence that we are going to beat these teams since Bobby's first go round.
Beat the G5's and rent-a-wins, then start beating Missouri and Miss State more times than not, win half of those one score games against TAMU and Ole Miss, THEN we can focus on the Top 10 matchups.

IDK if there is a Coach Cal out there on the football side we could realistically get.
Basketball program was in much better shape and it was about simply taking it from good to elite.
Football has been in shambles and there probably aren't many big names willing to jump feet first into this mess right now that are currently in a good spot.
only names I could think of that MIGHT fit are:
Mike Norvell FSU
Dabo Clemson
Cristobal Miami
Fleck Minnesota
All of them either have failed to meet expectations or could be ready for a change.
I don't see any of them as huge needle movers but I see all of them as solid coaches that bring credibility to the program. Not Coach Cal type hires with National Title pedigrees except maybe Dabo but I think the game is passing him with NIL.
So I guess by default, Franklin is the closest thing to Cal out there that might be attainable.

Franklin is a fine hire.
Probably won't work out her, but I don't imagine many of the options would either.

That’s literally dabo. Dabo with chicken man and other’s money is literally cal.

Dabo currently has money, he just spread the money evenly amongst his players like a commie. Instead of using the model a professional league has made over the past 70 years.

They are both definitions of great coaches that failed to adapt to the new nil/transfer portal that could be successful after a reset and change of scenery.

I don’t want Franklin but I think he could be better with a different scenery.
Dabo won’t be better because he doesn’t want to pay players, and thinks his Jesus talk and family values will Trump kids getting paid more elsewhere. He doesn’t have his safety net in Venebles.
