There may be no word more abused than the word "culture".

We want someone who knows how to build a team that can compete at the highest level. Whatever "culture" Auburn thinks it has didn't really fit Pat Dye, certainly didn't fit Harsin and Freeze and likely won't fit anyone they end up hiring.

Culture and wins are required.

That's just how it goes sometimes

Whats the famous line from North Dallas Forty "Everytime I say its a business you say do it for the team, and every time I say its for the team, you say its a business".

This coddling shat cause "they might transfer" is just that shat. If they are being paid they better be performing.

As an example, Im glad Auburn is taking a stand with Damari and NIL. Little shat said he did not quit. He was willing to work out and go to meetings, he just did not want to play....but he didnt quit. WTF kind of world is this kid living in?

Gotta disagree Jang.

I went to Auburn the last year of Barfield and when Dye came it. That was a culture shock, not change. And well needed. Within a year or two he had recruited kids with the same mindset and the ones left on the team definitely had an attitude adjustment.

Our culture at least the last 10 years has been a frickery factory. I’m all for a wholesale change of culture.

What culture? The "family" stuff? Or the hard nosed, hard working culture that was there under Tubs and Coach Yox? If the latter, then yes. Because that will lead to wins.

I honestly don't care too much. As long as we arent soft as Charmin and we win. I think winning cures a lot of the culture issues pretty quickly. I wish we could get 85 guys like Atkins tbh.

Dye was a big lift after Barfield.

The difference was….

A damn committee to search and hire the best candidate.

Vince Dooley was the fan favorite. And Vince had been recruited to play at Auburn by Shug and my Granddad. Granddad was convinced that Dye wanted out of Legion Field. My point was that Dye would change the landscape.

Do not like this one man band toying with the selection.

NIL and the portal make a mockery of the Creed. As did hiring Hugh Freeze. I don't care if our next head coach worships the Toomer's Oaks; I want a SOB who wants to win and win only.

not necessarily about winning

but about giving your best effort on every play

if we can get back to that mindset, the winning will come naturally

I can get behind that.

That’s especially crazy given Cobb was injured last Saturday and they had to play a kid who should still be in high school. Just so selfish.

The culture needs to be defined by how the HC runs the program. Hence Pat Dye = good culture. Hugh Freeze = bad or no culture.
