I could see Auburn doing this. I would recommend they hire someone young for some fresh ideas and energy, but I'm sure they'll choose old and familiar instead.

Nothing against Kelly, but please no. He's 58 and just got his first HC job at Jax St.
Just give me a younger guy, please. If you look at coaches with natties (who are still coaching), they were all hired around age 40.

Same not saying it’s a done deal but would say entering tomorrow Kelly is the leader until some phone calls are made.

Eat what up? The fact that he was a random player here in the 1980's? Its not like Charles Kelly built up any coaching goodwill at Auburn as an assistant.
Charles Kelly isn't some all-time AU great. I doubt that most Facebook fans even know that he played football here.

As far as Durkin everyone likes him around the program but afraid of some perception of rehab U for coaches.
I think Durkin could also get some looks at a place like Tulane to be head coach if we don’t hire him.
If Durkin leaves then we may take a player hit. Not sure any player on the offensive side cares if a coaching change is made
