Someone thats proven themself that much couldn't really be held responsible, it'd have to shift the blame to the school.

If he returned, TD would shut down. If he returned and failed, there’d be some trolling. But Bama got a shitload of championships from Saban while he was at Bama…don’t think Bama fans would give much of a care whether he was at LSU or not. We probably got his best years of coaching.

The danger for LSU is that he could never live up to the expectations they’d have for him to recreate the past.

If I'm LSU, I don't want a 74/75 year old Saban coaching. His program was already showing cracks in it the last two to three years he was at Alabama. He admitted he couldn't get good assistant coaches anymore because they weren't sure how long he was going to coach. All of that stuff was a real issue that manifested itself on the field.

Right now, LSU needs new life blood in that program and I'm calling Dan Lanning and asking him "how much"? Or I'm calling Schuman at UGA and asking him "How much"? I dang sure wouldn't call Lane because Jimmy Sexton is going to use his situation to financially castrate whichever school decides to get him. He's going to leverage the crap out of this situation. I'd add Brent Key of GA Tech to the list of coaches I'm calling and making them tell me "no".

There’s no way this would happen

His legacy at LSU is a guy that turned the program around and won a championship

His legacy at Alabama is a guy that turned things around in one several championships

He’s retired and considered to be if not the greatest one of the greatest college football coaches of all time who never suffered a failure at what he tried to do

There’s no way he risks even the slightest possibility of going out on a low note

Just for the record, I do NOT think Saban is coming here and to be perfectly honest, I do NOT want him to be the next coach.

I think there would be quite a few that would be disappointed in the support most Bama fans would give him if he did choose to go back to LSU.

Although, I think he'd be better to hire as the country's highest paid AD at this point.

A big reason Saban left was this unmitigated age of NIL.

Y’all have 2 other hires to make and have demonstrated, very publicly, that you can’t seem to pay a $53MM buy out.

Why would a coach, who already hates NIL, come to a place that is struggling to compete financially?

I would bet the farm Saban won’t return to the college game. If - and this is a massive “if” - he does coach again, I think it would be in the NFL.

If I were him and wanted to coach again - although I don’t think he does at all - I would want to go somewhere that would enhance my legacy if successful. That’s either the NFL or winning a natty at a third program.

I wouldn’t go back to LSU.

Where do yall come up with this shite?
quote:

“LSU is intriguing,” Klatt said. “I just think LSU is a step above. I think you have to overachieve at Ole Miss and you’ve got to do things that the program has never done to reach your goals and win at the top end of college football. In a lot of respects, the best years of Ole Miss football (at least in recent vintage), is what we’re seeing right now. Does he want better than that and go to LSU? We know that LSU can go and put together rosters year in and year out.”

“They compete not only at the top end of the SEC, but also in the country and win a National Championship. I do think it comes down to resources and like I said, I think LSU has top two or three resources financially in college football. I know a couple of their boosters. They have deep, deep pockets and in this day and age, that’s what you have to have. I think Lane will (leave). If I had to bet, Lane Kiffin is your next coach at LSU.”

I doubt Saban would unretire with NIL making all things equal, but the melt from Alabama fans when he was hired would only be rivaled by the melt from LSU fans when he was fired.
