He does realize coaches can tell LSU to frick off and go make their guaranteed money elsewhere? I appreciate his sentiment, but it reminds me of Dabo and NIL/ Transfer Portal.

I gotta respect him for throwing out truth bombs. The coaching contract lunacy will never change until schools start taking a stand...not even on the salaries, but the buyout clauses and contract lengths. 4 year contracts should be the norm and a school can extend it by a year annually if they want.

Right, but there is a time and place for that. LSU is in a vulnerable predicament and he’s jeopardizing the whole LSU brand and making the environment look less desirable by spouting off like that.

I get that, but nothing ever changes because schools and ADs always fall in line with the "norm." At some point the pattern has to be broken...but no one ever wants it to be them making the stand. Is it a near term negative for LSU? Absolutely. But it would be worth seeing LSU tank to bring some sanity back to the contract negotiations lol.

hes basically pleading with other schools to stop giving in to these coaches and their agents

Yeah, I don’t disagree that there do need to be changes. It’s just finding a way to reform and implement it.
