Because Orange Beach HS has one now and I want to make fun of someone:

Most bigger Texas high schools have had them for years.

Every school in the sec has had an indoor for at least a decade.

I might be wrong, but I think that would be Mississippi State.

Oh wow, you are right. They have one planned to start in 2027.

Nah, they've had enough problems.

Orange Beach spent $40 million upgrading facilities

Their Football team sux. Gulf Shores right down the road is better. GS has won a State title recently.

Honestly, I think that's a bit ridiculous on the HS level. These kids need to be out getting tough in the mud, heat, and cold.

It’s the lightning that’s the problem more than the rain.

I’m sure it appeals to parents concerned about heat stroke and whatnot. There have been some awful freak situations with high school players getting heat stroke.

Had ours since 1996 I believe. It was there when I went to football camp in high school.

My hometown, a 6A school in Alabama that goes to 7A, has had one for a couple years now.
Indoor facilities are so standard, I would expect some middle schools at big time HS programs, probably already have one. At least in the works.

They overpaid massively.

It's very impressive as well. But with our climate, was it really necessary. Plus most indoor practice facilities at our high schools are 150ft long or 50 yards. Not only does the football teams practice in them, so does baseball, softball, soccer and band. They also serve as a weight room. With the installation of automatic nylon netting system this keeps the interior of the building from getting damaged from baseballs and softballs.

There was an article a few weeks back in the Dallas Morning News that now over 60 high schools just in DFW have indoor fields. That’s nuts

How many have full size, 100 yard indoor fields?

My kids go to Allen(Collin county) and they have an underground 100 yard field under the stadium
