Yeah. That’s kind of the response I gave. Everyone who is succeeding in the SEC is on the short list

Makes one wonder who's on Arkansas shortlist now. They just got pushed down the ladder another rung.

Yeah. SCAR and Kentucky and Ms State can’t really afford to make a move. Even if they wanted to.

IMO, LSU is one hire away from becoming Auburn.

Everyone thinks a new coach brings championships. They don’t.

There’s 100 Jimbo Fishers at A&M for every Jimbo Fisher at FSU.

I think its a more enticing job than Florida but not without it's own set of headaches

I said this about the PSU job. Drink will be at the top of lists because of a real lack of options. There is Kiffin and Drink. They are both the same, Kiffin just gets more pub and finally got a QB in Chambliss.

Auburn is caught between Bama and UGA. They get what is left over in their efforts to recruit both areas. Louisiana has the highest number of blue chip recruits per capita in the country and LSU has little trouble retaining them. That puts immediate expectations on the next guy.

It looks like A&M and Ole Miss have equaled LSU as a program now. This is intolerable to fans like LSU has. Next year LSU fans would have called for the AD to be fired along with Kelly. The AD got ahead of the game and the new coach will buy him a 3 year honeymoon with the fans.

Lane Kiffin said a couple months ago that dynasties like Saban had are dead due to transfer and NIL. He said he was afraid fans of blue bloods would not accept that and be too demanding of their coaches. The old "lose to Vanderbilt or Missouri or Ole Miss or A&M and you are fired" problem blue blood coaches have.

Right now traditional powers cannot stack 5 stars 4 deep like they used to. How will their fans react when 5 stars become so expensive teams can only afford 5 or 6 of them on the roster?

I'm not sure Kiffin and Drink will bite on a traditional power job anymore. If they do they know what a dangerous move it is and will know what they are signing up for. It is what it is.

With a 9 game SEC schedule many SEC coaches are probably looking longingly at those ACC, Big 12, Big 10 schedules.

When Blake Baker left for LSU I posted on the main board that in year 4 Kelly, his new OC, and new DC would all be on the hot seat.

LSU fans said I was delusional.

I agree, but Drink isn't the qb developer like Kiffin. He's the clear cut Kiffin "light".

Kiffin has that reputation, but the truth is he just recruits alot of QBs and goes with the best. But he's not afraid to pull a QB who isnt performing. Or stick with the guy who is hot like Chambliss. No coach developes QBs, not enough time, with the exception of Brohm.

LSU use to be the clear cut choice before NIL.

You could get talent there that could even give Les Miles and Orgeron national titles. You did not have to be a genius, you just had to be smart enough not to get in your superior players way.

NIL has lessened that gap. You can still get superior talent at LSU a little easier than most other schools, but not to the same degree.

And LSU, like Florida, still has a fanbase with 1990s expectations with no sign of changing.

They are not the same. Kiffin is .500 vs top 10 teams at ole miss. Kiffin has been clearly a step up.

I read about this top 10 record. What does that really mean? Teams are moving up and down rankings all the time. You get more credit for beating LSU early in the season then you do by beating them now because of their ranking. They Are The Same Team!

Pre season rankings also dictate alot. Beating Clemson doesn't mean anything regardless of their ranking. What about beating Michigan early in the season. If Northwestern beat PSU in week 3 instead of week 6, would they get more credit or was PSU just overrated pre season.

The only stat that matters is CFP appearances.
