Why lie?

quote:

LSU canceled the series with Texas A&M in 1995, citing the increased number of conference games due to conference expansion and a recent losing streak to the Aggies. While the final decision was made by LSU, the cancellation was influenced by a contract that was not renewed after the initial 10-year period, and it was made at a time when Texas A&M had been dominant in the rivalry.

LSU's perspective: LSU canceled the series after the 1995 season. The reasons cited were the addition of more conference games to their schedule and a string of losses to Texas A&M.

Texas A&M's perspective: Although LSU made the call, some sources mention that Texas A&M was dominant in the rivalry at the time, which some viewed as a factor in LSU's decision.

The general consensus here by LSU fans when the permanents were announced was A&M was beneath LSU and the game doesn't move the needle for them.

Well, next year narrative can shift to.. LSU hasn't won in College Station in a decade.

Solid melt. It’s the kind that, when you read between the lines, is clear you were up all night thinking about. 8/10

I think next year's game may be in BR.

In any event, A&M is sitting at 5-3 in the last eight, and looking to go 4 out of 5 next year.

The worm has definitely turned.

that's right...run it back!

So it will be over a decade next time they come into town.

Hard to see the future these days what with NIL and unlimited transfers.

The future at LSU is what happened at A&M w/Jimbo. Only question is how long they are willing to go before ripping the band aid off.

And the deadbeats never paid the cancelation fee. Anyone surprised?

There is no debate that LSU had to cancel some non-conference games, because the SEC was requiring more conference games.

That does not change the fact that they CHOSE to cancel the Aggie series, rather than some other non-conference game. Why?

They scheduled the series, thinking they had a patsy and an auto-win each year. They were wrong, so they bailed on our series and retained the auto-win games.

It seems obvious to me that Warrior Poet's "they" and "pussies" both make reference to LSU, not our Aggies.

The LSU AD from the time is on record saying the rivalry got put on ice because of the previous SEC expansion. LSU was having to play an extra conference game and toggled because of it. The mid 90s were full of change. I believe he said he lamented losing the series though.

True, but I do not foresee many top players using the portal to leave top-quality teams, who have generous NIL coffers and who get them into the prestigious games and time slots.

That describes the modern Aggies.
