Just curious, considering the following...

Last post-season game: 2023 (Music City Bowl, loss to Maryland 31-13)
Last winning season: 2020 (6-5)
Last post-season win: 2018 (Music City Bowl)
Last division championship: 2017
Last conference championship: 2013
Last national title: 2010

Last win over Alabama: 2019
Record over last 10 games: 2-8

Last win over Georgia: 2017 (regular season game, lost rematch in SECCG)
Recover over last 10 games: 1-9

Post-season appearances under Malzahn: 8 (every season as head coach)
Post-season appearances in the 5 years since he was fired: 2

The odds are yes. But they need to get rid of the meddling morons behind the scenes and hire a GM alongside a proven winning coach. I think James Franklin or Rhett Lashlee would be home runs there

They are relevant in the officiating debate, but that's about it. THey are trash

I grew up in the 80s, and remember Auburn being incredibly strong under Dye. Then the 90s started their up and down trend.

My confidence that we will return to relevance is at an all-time low. I look at Nebraska under Scott Frost who kept coming close and they fired him. Now they are completely inconsequential. Feels like where we are headed (if we’re not already there) I’m not sure we’re cut out for the NIL portal era.

I'd wager Nebraska fans would welcome that looney Bo Pellini back in a heartbeat right about now.

I wouldn’t go that far. Nebraska was great when the triple option was still being used and they were way ahead of PED’s at the time. Plus they used to get a lot of Texas and California kids and JUCO transfers. A lot of people thought they would take over the Big ten but they’ve been much worse in that conference than they were in the Big XII.

Auburn is in the Deep South with a lot of elite recruits. NIL may be an issue. I don’t know, but the transfer portal is a tool that should be used to your benefit

Largely overblown. Hell most of the reason we are in the mess we are in was because they didn't meddle and moron AD/President we had at the time went rogue and hired Harsin without anyone's approval. Their meddling at that point was once he refused to recruit and consistantly no-showed charity events and other things.

Gus largely was allowed to run things however he wanted, no more or less than anywhere else. Hugh has had almost complete free reign. Our bigger problem is that we've tied ourselves to a scheme that has largely been completely figured out. Couple that with just being poorly coahced and we have what we are. Gus failed at recruiting crucial positions and then refused to adapt and wanted to prove he could coach a "typical" QB.

No thanks. I'm ready to move on from the Gus Malzahn offense.

NIL is not an issue for Auburn, Freeze has been given everything he asked for and the boosters backed his move with plenty of $$ to buy any player he wanted.

Player evaluation, training and development of talent acquired, then utilizing a scheme that best fits the player has been an issue for Auburn for years.

Freezus sucks arse. Then whoever hired him and Harsin need to be removed like cancerous growths. If you don’t get the next hire right, then keep trying. Of course the interest in the program may start to disintegrate with too many bad hires but it doesn’t seem to be eroding at this point

Fair enough. Sometimes it’s not the offense but the actual guy who’s in charge of the offense.

They have a booster problem, these narcissistic business men have unreasonable expectations because they live in their own bubble.

Lack of consistency destroys programs. Only fire a coach when you know you can upgrade. Auburn does weird shite to coaches like make up adultery scandals with Harsin and even Bowden back in the day.

Usually it is both. The system itself is incredibly flawed.

I think they will need new leadership in the athletic department before that happens.

Freezus has two major issues in connecting with his team. He has a god complex with his ego and his ideology in running his offense is terrible. This is widely known from Auburn fans. But where does the admin go from here with a next hire?

It blows my mind that Auburn fans still don’t appreciate Gus Malzhan.
