Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State are locks.

Who gets the 4th spot ?

I would think Michigan, Oklahoma, Southern Cal are the front runners.

Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Yale.

This is Mt. Rushmore, not a who’s the best recently contest.

Yale - most recognized championships and helped found the sport
Michigan - most wins
Notre Dame - sustained national recognition and success
Alabama - sustained national recognition and success

If you add a 5th Ohio State would make it for wins, titles and sustained success. I couldn’t really quibble if you swapped Michigan and Ohio State.

The last 100 years have to be weighted heavier than prior decades.
Geesh.

This.

It really is hard to pick a top 4 though.

It's Alabama & Ohio State then a serious drop off.

All Time Rankings Great reference for these debates.

I think you have to put Notre Dame in there because of their history but they have not done shite in almost 40 years..

The fourth one is even harder. USC? Michigan? Oklahoma?

I just about spit my drink out when I saw that they have Auburn with the fifth-most national championships of all time.

College football didn't start until this millenium, so LSU is obviously on there.

Michigan doesn’t really belong in that group as they have really underachieved from a championship perspective Their massive win total is due to them playing football for a long time.

Like Ohio St has always been. It's not changing either. The B1G is still a 2 team league.
