Tony Elliott (born November 26, 1979) is the successful football coach of the 16th ranked University of Virginia. He previously served as an assistant coach at Clemson University from 2011 to 2021. Coach Elliott is young, energetic, successful and has not one bit of scandal associated with him. Why hire an old retread when a dynamic up and coming coach is a potential hire?

LOL…to say Elliott is successful is a stretch at best. He was the co-OC during his Clemson days and has only one good win during his tenure at UVA and is 17-24 overall…no thanks!

We hired a guy w/ a 5-19 record! 17-24 is a standout in comparison…

Based off of half a successful season? I bet you wanted Turner Gill years ago as well…

I am pretty sure he was interviewed back when Harsin was hired.

If the qualifications are to be a great human being, Christian and young

we'd just hire Rhett

My question is: if there is a vacancy at AU, why hire an old retread? Why hire someone tainted by scandal? Why hire a coach only looking for a better paycheck? Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. While Coach Elliott might not be what Auburn needs, at least he is NOT another scandal tainted good ole boy just wanting to get on the Auburn payroll. Bless your hearts.

And we all remember how that ended....

ftr, I'm not trying to be an a-hole. I just don't want another hire where we have to sit here and convince ourselves he's the right guy.

Elliott feels like that, to me.
