Since joining the conference you have never scored more than 2 touchdowns on another conference team.
When is it happening? Mateer was rated to be a great QB wasn't he?

Oklahoma hired a defensive mindset HC.

Looks like you go on the road to S Carolina.
Man, I’d be thankful that you got them at an 11:45 am kick instead of a night game.
Really helps out your OL.

When they find a running back that can carry the ball beyond the line of scrimmage, or an offensive line that can block for him. A receiver that can jump up and catch a pass would be cool. Not having a converted 6'1" Sr. linebacker playing TE. Daylan Smothers is the starting RB for NC State and is nearly leading the P4 in rushing. Guess what school he originally played for. The coaches suck arse, the players suck, the people evaluating talent gave some pussy RB from Cal named Jaydyn Ott 1 million dollars in the portal to sit on the bench. They retained all the position coaches from last year, one of the worst offenses in college football. One QB and an OC isn't going to fix that shite sandwich.

OU will be fine....may not be with Venables.
You have too much history and several high dollar/NIL boosters for this not to happen. This is just the 2nd year, give it some time.

As a fan, it's the timeline of doom:
2016: Stoops leaves program in great shape (pre-NIL)
2017-2021: Lincoln Riley largely ignores defense and special teams for 5 years, amid the ensuing exodus he takes our best talent with him to USC.
2022: OU hires Burnt Vegetables who inherits a decimated roster. Goes 10-8 in B12 over two years.
2024: Limps into an absolutely brutal schedule in his inaugural SEC season with the saddest attempt to form an offense we've seen since the late 90's
TL;DR: We hired a flaky offense-only HC followed by a defense-only mental midget HC, and here we are.

Riley took three guys with him. And because he took Caleb Williams everybody thinks he took way more than he did.
Venables first team had plenty of returning starters and a number of good players left over from Riley. So many that OU went into his first season rated as a top #10 team once we acquired Dillon Gabriel. Actually got up to #6. Just like this season. And ended up 6-7.
Venables then did what every new coach does when they don't succeed at first. And that is to blame the last guy. And of course... fans will buy it.
This year is the first year that OU has no Riley era players left on it. These are all Venables' guys. OU has had almost four years of the new S&C program...and Venables has had four years to fix whatever internal problems that Riley left him (and this was an issue that might have had merit).
No more "Riley" excuses for Venables. He needs to show SOME signs of progress this season. And that sign would be fielding a competitive team in the last half of the season. All his other teams faded down the stretch.

That's what Nebraska thought but here we are.

Last year was a season to forget with all the offensive injuries plus a bad 5* QB plus a fired OC. So that makes sense.
This year we improved offense but still have some issues to work out. Keep in mind we played 2 teams who have top defenses and played a qb vs tx who hadn't taken one snap in any practice for 17 days leading up to RRS.
I think the offense will get on track we do need to fix run game but can use short passing game which is same as a run.
Will be interesting to see how the offense evolves in these last 6 SEC games but you can toss last year as it was a MASH unit.

I think we are all working with the same information and what we were told hasn't come to pass so go figure.
Sooner fans are not ecstatic over the turn of events thus far.
All we can do for the immediate future is ride it out and reevaluate as the season progresses.

I almost mentioned the Cale Gundy mistake.

NIL was not around through most of NU's biblical "tour through the wilderness".
