quote:

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson delivered an impassioned message to his offensive teammates Monday after a close win over Missouri last weekend.

"As he wants to improve on his past game, he brings us along," left tackle Kadyn Proctor said Tuesday. "He's just a great leader. Speaks all the time. Ripped our arse when we were in a team [offensive] meeting yesterday. He knows how to get us riled up and he's a great leader."

Asked about the message from Simpson, Proctor said, "That we need to be better. We still haven't played a full game as an offensive line, as a quarterback, as any position. We haven't played a shutout game -- which is hard to do, but that's what is expected of us."

Good, and I bet he talked to guy in the mirror too. Leaders lead.

Good to see our 2 QBs are on the same page!

But fr, I just know Ty isn’t one of those guys to beat anyone else up harder than he does himself for mistakes.

A true leader wants to make others hate their own mistakes as much as they do their own. It’s the best example.

Ty got coached by the GOAT for several years. He is one of the last players with the Saban mentality.

I absolutely love this storyline. I hope he says "Aight!" a whole lot.

He actually does say “aight” all the time in talks to the team it’s like if Rob Ezell was being serious.

Ty is so great man.

He's also a coach's son, which I think shines through. His dad has done a pretty solid job at Tennessee Martin, which is historically one of the worst FCS teams. Jason Simpson is 124-95 there, which doesn't sound impressive until you realize the program was 166-293 all time before he took over.

Love to hear this. I think the rat poison was involved before last weeks game and it showed.

I think we just played a good team on the road. I think there were two or three plays that could’ve turned that into a 17-point win, but you gotta give Mizzou credit too. But u appreciate Ty raising the standard.

It's awesome having a real leader at QB. The teams with Milroe and Bryce Young had such weak leadership.

Ty Simpson is a freaking stud. He's totally come into his own, and will only get better.
Unfortunately, at this rate, I think he's gone after this year.

Not sure why anyone down voted you here. You didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. I’m 99% sure Ty is gone after this year.

Probably because he said that Bryce Young was a weak team leader. He definitely didn't seem like much of a vocal leader that gave fiery pep talks or laid into teammates that weren't focused, but there are different ways to lead, and I think that Young was at least a leader by example. He definitely took responsibility for losses and never threw anyone under the bus or created controversy in pressers or interviews which in itself is a sign of a good leader.

I mean, putting blame on Young for any of the team's failures in 2021 and 2022 is quite dumb in general. Dude was incredible for us.

I don’t think Bryce was a bad leader. Just because a QB isn’t super emotional, that doesn’t make him a “bad leader”. Bryce was one of the best, maybe THE best to ever play QB at Bama. His only flaw was IMO that he sometimes got greedy and would scramble and try to hold on until someone got open. Sometimes that worked but he was not big guy and he took way too many licks because of it.
