I thought it was to simulate the snap count? In the video I see the DB clapping, but it was when the QB wasn't trying to snap the ball. The QB was walking towards the line and making some kind of motion to his receivers when the clapping occured. Hopefully someone with actual knowledge sees this and gives an honest answer

Clapping can be a penalty.
Clapping isn’t always a penalty.
Problem solved.

But when is clapping supposed to be a penalty? That is the question.

When it is done in the ref’s judgment to attempt to simulate the cadence of the quarterback and to affect the snap or to cause a false start.

It’s a 240p video that I can only think is hosted on geocities…
But I’m not even seeing anyone clapping…?
ETA: Oh the safety. Yeah, I don’t consider that disconcerting signals. Especially given the timing. But the OL is still center could get confused. Really no way for a defensive player to get someone else’s attention since this would be when the crowd is going apeshit.

The clapping in the video doesn't reflect an attempt to simulate the cadence of the QB. You see the linemen start turning their heads to the QB because he walked up towards the line and was yelling something. It looked more like the DB was clapping because he saw the Georgia players were confused.

Correct. You and I and everyone who is sane agree with this.

The clap rule is that as a rule, Auburn fans don't mention how many times their coach has given the clap to an underaged girl.

How would they actually know the answer to this?

Or hired a hooker to give the clap to him and his players.

Maybe he could have Jerry Falwell rehabilitate his image too

It’s very simple. If bama or Georgia coaches clap, it’s not a penalty. If anyone else claps, it’s a penalty.

Freeze is a slimeball off the field. Smart is a slimeball on the field.

The only clap rule I am familiar with is the rule that states “If you get the clap, do everything in your power to not let your spouse find out”
It further states “If you received the clap from your spouse, contact an attorney.”

Well, either all safeties do this, or some coach promotes it.
It looks exactly like what caused Milroe and his Center to snap the ball two years ago... I hope DeBoer is prepared when they visit.
... 2023 Iron Bowl where an Auburn safety, Zion Puckett, clapped before the snap, which may have caused Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and center Seth McLaughlin to fumble a snap. Nick Saban commented on this after the game, stating that the clap was a penalty and that it affected the exchange.
The play: On a critical final drive, Auburn safety Zion Puckett clapped before the snap on a second-down play.
The result: The timing of the clap appeared to cause confusion with Alabama's center Seth McLaughlin, leading to a bad snap.
Saban's reaction: Saban stated that the action was a penalty because defensive players are not allowed to clap to simulate a cadence. He believed it contributed to the botched snap, which led to a 4th-and-31 situation.
The outcome: The play contributed to the events that led to Alabama's final play and the game's conclusion.

Can you provide video that shows the exact situation of the video I posted above?

The fact that no one knows how to apply the rule makes me think it shouldn’t be a rule. Also it’s unlikely Georgia could hear it either. It’s very loud on the field most of the time
