- OL as a unit has improved tremendously since Wk1 and is now playing some pretty damn good ball the last two weeks. Hope the current trajectory is maintained going forward.

- I noticed #70 Will Sanders was subbed in for #71 Kam Dewberry at LG fairly early into the game. Thought both played very well. Dewberry threw down some mean, key blocks on the long gains on the ground on Saturday. I’m curious if they try and work Sanders in at RG at all going forward. Would like to see more consistency and cohesion developed on the right side of the o-line.

- #90 London Simmons the freshman DT is a stud. Dude has a good combination of power and quickness. He absolutely mauled the man in front of him 3 or 4 times on Saturday, either making the play himself of blowing it up for someone else to clean up. Vandy really struggled in the middle upfront when Simmons and Smith were in the game.

- Justin Jefferson was all over the place. Fantastic performance by him after a rough outing vs. FSU and UGA.

- Vandy OL held onto Jordan Renaud #11 all damn game. How they weren’t flagged once for it was unbelievable after finishing the second watch of the game.

- if we can clean up the busted assignments on D, we should be very salty moving forward. Our LBs and Safeties often times get sucked into the same spot on the field and let a guy slip past them for an easy completion and/or big gain. The 3rd and long completion in the 4th quarter (just before Mincey’s pick that was called back), Lawson and Hubbard initially both broke to the same spot, only to have the Vandy TE slip right up the seam past both of them for an easy conversion. I’ll give Wommack props for the stellar overall defensive effort against Vandy (particularly in the second half), but this miscommunication shite has to get cleaned up or it will bite us badly in a tight ball game. Wommack’s defenses have and continue to bail out the opposing offenses on third down.

- Now on to Mizzou. Excited for that game. Our players and coaches should be juiced up at another opportunity to go on the road and show their stuff. Will be an interesting 11am matchup for sure. RTR

I'll play along.

Saw a post from a Georgia fan stating we are dropping Ty a couple steps further back than normal to adjust for the pass rush. It does appear he is further away from the OL as he scans the field.

Dewberry was pancaking people and drew a ridiculous holding penalty on one of them. Sanders has been a pleasant surprise as a rotating OG. I still like to see Jaeden Roberts return to the starting lineup.

You want to read a mind blowing stat?

Simmons only played 9 downs in the game. Nine. That needs to change moving forward.

He was great. He gets swallowed up at times, but Vandy isn't a big team so he was able to use his athleticism more than usual.

The officiating in this conference is a fricking disgrace.

In today's press conference Wommack said the players didn't come out playing aggressively in the game and they addressed it during halftime. Vanderbilt only had 22 yards rushing after the 1st quarter. It worked.

I've heard a couple of people say that we moved the LBers and safeties back a foot or 2 from their normal positions so they could see the backfield better. Small change, big result.

Jefferson has played well particularly since he’s basically a safety playing ILB. Alabama is notorious for fudging heights/weights for players. Jefferson is listed at something like 6’1” 225 lbs but I bet he’s 5’11” and about 210 lbs soaking wet. Pretty small for an SEC LB yet he makes it work.

Nolan Smith did well at Georgia despite being undersized. If you can ball, you can play.

Had drives of 16 plays, 12 and 11 all ending in scores. One 3 and out. Even in the absence of a dominant ground attack, i'm starting to see an identity. A deliberate offensive approach. Ball control with some explosives mixed in.

We have the best QB in the country. He forced one ball on 4th down, deep in their end on a play that should have fooled the defense but didn't, with nowhere to run. That's the closest thing to a critique I can come up with through 5 football games. Find me one instance of somebody running the 2 minute like Ty's last 3 drives going into half.

We also have the best receiver room, a lead back rounding into form and at least 7 OL that I trust.
Note: we're 2-3 weeks away from seeing Proctor in orbit motion.

Defense doesn't blow anybody away but you see the vision even if it's not pretty. Keep the ball in front of us, rush the passer with discipline and try to force a mistake. The coaches know what we all know. There's no Will Anderson walking those halls. Still have to find 11 guys that can fit the run.

The defensive depth is underrated. I'm really starting to like 11, 17, 90 and 94. I love 5, 12, 21 and 41. All those reps will be really valuable in a month. And don't quit on 42. He's going to be a somebody before it's over.

No to criticize Ty but two things he can work on.

1) Ty tends to throw some passes high when he is throwing off his back foot. He had a couple of TDs- one to Brooks in the 1st Qtr for certain- that if he hit the WR in stride, it is a TD.

2) I guess TY and Milroe went to the same school- The School of Taking Unnecessary Sacks. Ty has to quit taking sacks not only for down and distance purposes but to save the wear and tear on his body. It's already a long season and we are going to face several more teams with good fronts and that like to bring pressure.

Dewberry was MAULING people inside. The holding call on him was absolute garbage, he'd just pancaked a guy and would do so shortly thereafter again. Taking him out was a hell of a strange decision.

It was one of his best games in Crimson IMO.

They were holding our WRs as well and didn't get called for that as well. Easily could've had two additional 3rd down conversions if they're calling even the obvious stuff.

GMac said at half time we moved our linebackers back two steps and that helped them follow the. Ball. Also moved the safety back two steps and helped with angles to the ball. He said the first half we were putting everyone near the los to stop the run but our linebackers are short and couldn’t see what their QB was doing with the ball.

Josh Pate made the point earlier this week that it feels like Alabama gives up twice as many points as we actually do. Vandy scored 14. If you went into the game saying Bama only gives up 14 to a team that was averaging 49 I think we'd be happy.

I’d like to add that Horton is under appreciated. I was watching the film guys breakdown and his effort in blocking sticks out to me. He has nice body control and awareness to find a hole when one is not present

I'm still not sold on our D although seems to be improving. Hope our offensive game plan continues to be to run the clock and maintain possession for 5-8 minute drives and run the play clock to the max to keep the D off the field as much as possible. No hurry up
Think doing that had a lot to do with beating both UGA and Vandy.

Hope D improves to the point where eventually we can just cut loose on O though. We could do it now but I think long and slow is best at present.

It is his 5th start ever and he is a frontrunner for the Heisman. His ceiling is very high. DeBoer mentioned it on Hey Coach last night.
