I couldn't find this online so I had my son help me create it.
Roughly geographic graph showing the announced annual opponents.
Interesting observations that are easier to see with this graph:
- Very few opponents are shared in clusters/pods. This is the opposite of the prior idea to have pods of 4 all play each other. SC and Florida are members of 2 groups of 3 that play each other, and Georgia and Kentucky in one group of 3, but otherwise no school has a pair of annual opponents who are also annual opponents of each other.
- Ole Miss and Mississippi State have the single link between a cluster in the west and the larger cluster in the east with Ole Miss being on the West side.
- For the most part, the opponents are set up to nearby teams which is of course intuitive that they would be rivals and also that it cuts down on travel.

The only thing I got from that graph is that Ole Miss is the nucleus that holds the SEC together.
No way Lane leaves them, too powerful.

I understand the argument against it, but this graph is another reason that Florida needs to play Auburn.
Great job btw!
Post more.

It is interesting that Ole Miss is connected to the teams in the west and to Mississippi State... and the Mississippi State is connected to teams in the east and Ole Miss.
And that none of the teams in the six teams in the west cluster are connected to any east teams at all. And none of the eight teams are connected to any of the west at all.

We are the Landmass that divides the SEC.

Just now noticed that Bama and Vandy have identical opponents.

Interesting. This shows we could probably split into divisions and not see too much disruption.

And if they keep the schedule as set for the next four years for 20 years. It is likely lsu plays some of the teams in the east more times in a short period of than ever before.
