Play Deuce

That’s the thread. Hugh can’t pick a portal qb to save his life. I think we know what Jackson is at this point. He just CANT let it rip. I have no doubt Deuce would not have missed those wide open TDs to Cam in the Oklahoma game. Let him play and turn it loose.
Sure the OL needs a lot of help also, but if deuce can hit his back foot and rip it, a lot of the issues go away. That’s assuming Freeze can scheme a coherent passing attack. Still not sure on that front.

Deuce struggle taking snaps and handing the ball off vs Ball St. I don't think he's the answer this season

We're already one dimensional with the qb1. I'm sure he can just run as fast as him wouldn't take much to make better decisions post ball snap. Or the guy from Stanford??? I mean at this point what we worried about him taking a sack from holding the ball too long?

At first. He looked much better the last few snaps he played.

I agree.
I have historically been one to be a cliche football fan and call for the backup when the starter is not winning. I did not do that last year and I won't do that this year.
The reason? I don't have faith in the coaching and don't think it will help. I don't have faith in the HC and the assistants to recruit the right QB. Hopefully Deuce can develope under the next coach. If he stays.

I’m not sure Deuce is ready, and Daniels is not good. Once again, Freeze has painted himself in a corner by bringing in a QB from the portal that had several red flags. I’d give Deuce a series or 2 with the starters. Let’s see what he has. If he doesn’t do anything worthwhile, just stay with Arnold and ride this disaster into the ground.

To a degree, yes. But if we don't try to use the running backs, we'll be one dimensional regardless of who's behind center.

If you want to absolutely destroy any chance of Deuce being good down the road, you should play him.
He is not even close to being ready for this shite show. With that offensive line?

I dont know what would give you so much confidence in him after seeing a couple of his throws a few games ago in mop up time.
I also think that if Hugh cant evaluate a portal QB to run the offense, he might also struggle picking a HS QB as well.

Hugh didn't make him a 5*.

Jackson Arnold was a 5 star too.
5 star recruits that come to Auburn seem to be like the coaches and forget everything about football once they get on campus.

Both of the big HS QB's that Freeze has signed were super raw and ranked primarily on perceived upside. Walker White also looked terrible playing against a cupcake opponent, and interestingly enough he is now running #3 or #4 on Baylor's depth chart with the #2 QB being a redshirt freshman himself that was ranked nowhere near him out of HS.
Deuce will be interesting to follow because he also looked legitimately terrible in that game action earlier this season, just like Walker White did.

True, but your comment was about Deuce's evaluation.

Yeah, his evaluation by Hugh Freeze. Who seemingly has trouble evaluating talent at the QB position.

I, obviously, meant his 5* rating. Brother Hugh had nothing to do with that.

That doesn’t matter. That was his first action ever in a game that didn’t matter. Throw him in the fire. He will have mistakes, but he will figure it out and get it going. I would rather his mistakes than Jackson’s complete unwilingness to turn it loose.

At the end of the day, the head coach has to be responsible for all of it.
I think we need some base plays that we execute perfectly.
RPO does not need to be tagged to every single run.
Call a run or pass in the huddle or at the line.
Right now it looks like nobody knows what is going on on the offensive side of the football.

Can you imagine how amped up and nervous Deuce was his first action? You gotta let him get this out of his system and just go for it. Jackson can’t do it.
But also, that points to something I’ve worried about for a longgg time going back to Gus. I think Gus and Freeze both put severe nervousness into their quarterbacks which ruin their ability to perform. The only times Gus had success was when he had a qb who was a mental alpha who couldn’t be ruined by his anxious nervousness.

I think a lot of it has to do with how many damn decisions the qb has to make every single play. It's a flaw in the system.
