Just do it

Looking at a 6-6 season at best. Yep. Time for him to go.

It’s the right thing to do. He clearly isn’t the answer.

I've been a Hugh apologist since the beginning. I can't do it anymore. Despite the huge talent upgrades, the offense looks the same (perhaps even worse) as it did 2 years ago.

Unfortunately the options for a replacement are not good when you have had 3 coaches in 5 years.

Well I guess we can just stick with Hugh then!

It's time. Offense shouldn't be this horrendous with an offensive-minded coach.

Any worth keeping?
Head Coach Hugh Freeze
Offensive Coordinator Derrick Nix
Quarterbacks Coach Kent Austin
Running Backs Coach Derrick Nix
Wide Receivers Coach Marcus Davis
Tight Ends Coach Ben Aigamaua
Offensive Line Coach Jake Thornton

I really think Hugh needs to spend more time with his family, seeing his cancer situation. He retires (asked to or voluntary doesn't matter). Leaves at the end of season, but announces end of October. Kids would understand, not panic and allow AU to search for a replacement.
Optics would be better for AU as a good coaching destination. Better than firing, I'd say.

Bucky needs to go back to Mississippi and milk cows.

I think Freeze does a good job of mediator between boosters, players, assistant coaches, media, press conferences and recruits.
But there is clearly something bad going on with the offense that he can’t manage and he needs help.

Let's assume that this is correct. There is still the question of replacement. The only coaches good enough to deliver the results we expect already have secure positions that pay a huge salary somewhere else. As wonderful as Auburn is, I don't see us being able to hire Dan Lanning or Ryan Day. I would be afraid that we would wind up with someone like Sunbelt Billy.

He needs to completely stop being the OC. His offense is stale and his play calling is worse.

Do the Eli thing and turn o over to a qualified coach. Problem is we’ve seen this before and either won’t do it or can’t help to mingle.

Sumrall at Tulane. He would come. (He tore it up at Troy as well and knows east Alabama).

This really is starting to feel like the end of Gus' tenure, in so many ways

True, but Gus was still better.
I didn't like the Gus firing at all because it was done without a plan but boosters don't usually have a plan.
