Miss State Vs Tennessee QB battle

Former Baylor QB Blake Shapen for Miss State is:
67 for 100 with 67.0 completion percentage with 884 yards and 7 TDs / 2 ints.
Former App State QB Joey Aguilar is:
78 for 117 with 66.7 completion percentage and 1,124 yards with 12 TDs / 3 ints.
Both guys have very speedy fast WRs and both can hit homerun shots at any moment with protection.
The difference will be who can run the ball something that we aren't very good at defending unfortunately.
The crowd noise at this game will be paramount as this is JA's first real road test while and UT and Heupel teams have been known to struggle and lay eggs on the road.

You know Tennessee is going to murderize you guys, right?

I don’t have any issue with State, and I am glad to see they are improving.
But, I don’t think you’ve recruited at a high enough level - yet - to compete for four quarters. I think it’ll be close for a half.
Then again, Georgia and Stockton really exposed our inexperienced Freshmen DBs … not having much depth there and being without our starters (all Americans McCoy and Gibson) is really going to hurt us, not only for the game but also for the season.

True, until you get your dback starters back you're going to have an issue with a lot of teams.
Just not MSU.

State is good. UTk is much better.
That said, things happen. Absolutely a chance at the upset.
Clanga!

I think TN wins, but I think it's close. It'll be stupid loud and hostile.
if it was a night game like ASU game was....I'd pick state for the upset.

How does that work in Starkville these days? They can ring their cowbells until the team comes to the line, then they have to stop?
Is that what is about to happen?

Tenn will roll, they have much more talent than MSt.The only coach who could keep it close is Nick and he ain’t walking through the door.

You have a valid point about road games.
Should be a good game.

Pretty close actually.
Aguilar is obviously more prolific, but also, Tennessee's defense is butt.

Pass defense, yes.

Hopefully with McCoy and others coming back will help this. We’ll see.

How often has each QB been sacked?

Don't know off the top of my head but i saw where the Tennessee defense leads the SEC with 15 sacks right above Oklahoma while the Miss State D only has 5.
If this was in Neyland, I'd be petrified but we have the grind and many thousands of loud cowbells on our side.

State allowed 6 times on 100 attempts
Vols allowed 1 sack in 117 attempts.

Shapen holds the ball too long. Our OL is not great. I got TN covering the spread.
