Are you up or down now that now Texas has followed you into the SEC and became perms (perms least for the next 4 years).

And if down, would you consider a jump to the Big 12 down?

Serious question, because when you guys joined the league I always assumed you were happy about it (SEC ego and all), and Texas and Oklahoma were the ones left out.

Now they come into your house and this little mini-conference of torment is formed.

Again, we all play everyone every 4 years, it's complete chaos for everybody. But what say ye?

Sorry if this has been asked already.

Remember when Aggy fans swore the SEC Presidents would vote against UTranny and OU joining the league?

Good times

For me at Arkansas, the only downside of leaving the swc was losing our game against texas so having that back isn’t a negative. Now with this board we can pick at one another. We were never in the big12 but if you want to go there then that’s fine with me.

I am old enough that I remember the Arkansas rivalry from my childhood. I've missed it personally and glad to have it back. The younger Horns don't seem aware of the hatred that existed at one time.

I didn’t like it when they were able to follow A&M to the SEC but the day after the announcement I didn’t really care.

We’ve been mediocre in the same conference and mediocre in different conferences from Texas. If the only way you can enjoy watching A&M football (as an aggie fan) is if they are winning championships then stop watching IMO.

I always knew little bro was going to follow us to the SEC.

The hatred of our hearts is full again!

That hole of hatred just couldn’t be filled with LSU or Mizzou, so we just filled it with hating ourselves.

You’ll notice Aggies and Horns bantering back and forth like unloved children.

You don’t see that with Hogs and Horns. Our hatred as Hogs is pure. frick them.

It’s so nice to have our hate back!

I remember when my old grandpa, a mild mannered man who always went to church when the doors were open, would pick back and forth with my uncle woody, a hard drinking raspy oil man from Galveston, about the game during game week. We’d generally lose but they had fun with it.

Cool, was just wondering.

I honestly wasn't trying to go there, I meant it as go back to the SWC, or just leave the SEC (not B1G or ACC) really, for a non-Texas path.

It sucks and adds a legitimate risk of instability. Still might be cool to catch an SECCG here in DFW if the conference lasts that long.

I personally liked it better when texas and OU were boxed out in the Big 12 babysitting the techs, baylors and K/I/Ok-states of the college football world.
But I'm not mad we have to play them now, and a lot of Aggies are beyond excited the game is back so I'd say it's a net positive.

Would I consider joining the Big 12? Hell no - that would just put us in the shitty position I was glad texas and OU was in before. Hell, even jumping ship to Big 10 sounds absurd to me.

Reality is super conferences are/were coming and the conference is better (from a program strength standpoint) with texas and OU joining over say a couple ACC teams. Whether or not they're as good of a fit as some other schools is a whole different topic. But the way things are headed I wouldn't be surprised if the ACC gets devoured in the coming years by SEC and Big 10 anyways.

I felt like Sankey got played. Texas and OU weren't going anywhere if he'd simply told them, "Come back to us when we get closer to negotiating a new deal." Adding those two schools resulted in zero additional money for existing members because we were locked into a contract that doesn't expire until 2034. It would have made more sense to consider expansion around 2030, when the Big XII's deal was expiring, and we were getting close enough to the expiration of our deal to possibly leverage that in negotiations on the next deal.

Like Texas is going to cause the SEC to be second to the B1G? What do you mean?

Everything has been unstable since the 90s. And I wouldn’t bet on this lasting. And I would bet on Texas getting blamed if it doesn’t. But…

The new SEC is a relatively geographically compact conference that will be financially competitive with a Big10 that has a sizable advantage in TV sets.

I hope everyone realizes they’ve got a good thing.

Cool, what I am hearing from your take is that it was inevitable and your program had more vision and is better ready to adapt to the new way (super conferences).

I feel like ESPN just said here's what we're doing and here's why you'll like it.

You think that’s because no one in the SEC office was smart enough to push for an escalator clause? I think the more likely scenario is that when CBS walked, ESPN — with all the leverage — told the SEC they’d pay as if Texas and Oklahoma were already in the league and work to make it happen.

The only scenario that makes sense is the B1G

We know it’s just a matter of time before the whorns ruin the SEC for everyone

The B1G would take us. A&M, FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, UNC, Georgia Tech all in one swoop to make the B1G 24 teams and end realignment would be the perfect storm

Not going to happen though. A&M boosters have always been behind the curve (outside of the SECede movement) and wouldn’t think to do something so bold until it’s too late.

Side note, Notre Dame boosters secretly want the SEC if they’re forced out of independence
