Games where backup SEC QBs started against Texas last year:
1.) Mississippi State
2.) Florida
That’s it. That’s the list. So 2/8 times
And since Texas started their own backup against Mississippi State and had 42 on Florida’s defense within minutes of the 3rd quarter, I don’t think it mattered one bit
It’s still not even ruled out that Lagway and Mateer will miss their games against Texas

inferior offenses regularly play backups vs superior defenses that don't have film/prep on the backup as a hail mary, fyi. It's the full game equivalent of a trick play. This is also implying the starter was not actually the inferior player and the backup was just being hidden for certain matchups later in the year, which happens a ton
