Got out physicals by a 1-2 Tulsa team.
As soon as I heard Grantham was their DC, knew they were for sure going to lose

Okie State is a dumpster fire right now. They were consistently a good program under Gundy for many years but he’s checked out… 1-11 in his last twelve games.

Grantham is as good a DC that works for offensive first coaches as there can be. He is making bank. Remember Florida fires him and the next week UF gave up like 70 to some team like Samford.

I tried to tell my fellow Pokes about him, but I was shouted down.

Why are people so black and white. Todd Grantham could a good DC but not good enough for a top tier program. Both can be true. He probably should have jumped back to the NFL. It seems like he’s always “overschemed”.

OKST hired him away from an NFL DL coach job.

Money talks if they’re dumb enough to pay it

OSU recruiting has dropped off to Vanderbilt levels. Along with many others, their program is in the process of being killed by conference realignment and NIL. Being left behind in a competition backwater is not supportive of the donor funding model that determines roster quality in this perverted, corrupted thing we call college athletics.

I mean, hasn’t stopped Texas Tech from throwing bags around. T. Boone Pickens died 5 years too early for OSU

Right now, that might be welcomed.

OKST's starting QB played three drives, leading the team to three scores and then broke his foot.
Flores redshirted in 2023 and then missed 2024 due to injury. Behind him are two true freshmen and a R-JR who just joined the team two days ago after playing previously at FCS North Alabama in 2023.
Flores is not being allowed to use his athleticism, and it is limiting what the offense can do.

Can't believe the "I'm a man; I'm 40!" bit is almost 20 years old.

OK State like a lot of teams has a Jimmy’s and Joe’s issue.

Making bank is not the determining factor if a coach is good or not.

Grantham was replaced with Christian Robinson to be DC after he was let go (yes, that Christian Robinson).

I dont know about recently.
But with us, he would pad defensive stats. It was said to be an NFL mentality (never pull the starters. Humiliate opponents for being unprepared or inferior).
I personally think he figured a way how to flash those stats around at his job interviews.
Ironically, leaving starters in was one of the biggest reasons for his drop-off at UGA (he couldn't reload despite recruiting decent).

I could see him being an upgrade over a prior hire at Oklahoma State (he was good relative to what Miss St and Louisville were accustomed to). But I struggle to see value in that kind of contract. Way too much money
