1. Mike DuBose but beat Spurrier twice in 1999
2. Gene Chizik only coach to win a NC not to have an overall winning record.
3.Bill Curry basically won 30% of his games outside of Alabama but was 3-0 vs UT at Alabama
4. Ted Cox Tulane outside of the 1934 season in D1 football he is below .500.

I cant believe Ed Orgeron isnt on this list. I don't think he was a bad coach. In his first 2 full years at LSU, he was elite. He just stopped caring after winning a title.

Reminder that Dubose was fired 25 years ago and still has a more recent title than Tennessee.

He was a great recruiter, motivator, and general bullshitter buthe had no business in the details of the calling plays and strategy. He was best when his coordinators were good. Dont think I am trashing Ed because I like him and several HC's cant get out of their own way besides him.

I really Liked O.

But after he won the title, he got divorced and started acting like a drunk Frat boy chasing chicks…..

Chicks cloud the brain.

Yeah, i just dont think he is cut out to be a head coach. As you said, he was great on the recruiting trail and was one of the best DL coaches when he did that.
