As promised I will no longer crap on y’all and say you don’t belong in the SEC. Y’all fought like hell and had one of the best games of the day. Even after early mistakes y’all make it happen and showed your dominance.
Also the dude that kicked the ball in the stands with the frick KU was the most SEC thing y’all have done. After all these years I just want to say…
Welcome to the SEC!
Can’t wait for our game this year.

Thanks, right back at you. Great start to the season for both teams.
Same, prior to last year State has really had our number. I expect alot of State fans will come up as it is a pretty easy drive and you keep winning that will for sure happen.

Mizzou played yesterday? Who?

I like Miss St fans by and large.
We had a great time in Starkville last year. Nicest fans.
Great win yesterday.

I won’t be able to this year but I want to make the trip to complete my SEC stadium tour. Y’all have done a great job with stadium upgrades and the environment yesterday was fantastic. Dink has given y’all an identity and has recruited really well to fit his system.

dang you for making me post against a Miss St fan this morning after last night’s amazing game against ASU!
Only by majority vote of the Big 6 can someone officially be welcomed to the SEC. Even then, Bama still has veto power until someone in the SEC comes even remotely close to matching our number of titles (the real ones, not the AU type ones).

This was a personal welcome. I said if they beat KU I would stop saying they don’t belong. They delivered so I have to back it up. Say what you want but with trips to Atlanta and the grit they showed yesterday in a rivalry game they deserve some praise.

I think it’s been easy to keep the “Mizzou doesn’t fit shtick” going for a few reasons:
1. Sticking us in the SEC East with a bunch of schools who were much further away and had less in common with us than many SEC West schools caused fewer fans to visit Columbia and become accustomed to Mizzou and its fans. The Mississippi schools, Arkansas, and Texas A&M would’ve created faster, natural familiarity than grouping us with Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee did.
2. Mizzou took a decade-backwards step with the way it handled the protests in 2015. It was exacerbated by Pinkel getting a cancer diagnosis and retiring suddenly. It hurt the school and the program internally, and the perception of it externally. I personally know people from around that time period who didn’t send their kids to school to Mizzou because of all the protest mess. Feels like we’re really just recently moving past that.
3. No natural rivals in the SEC gave a false impression to y’all that Mizzou somehow lacks passion about its program like a real SEC team. We need to keep Kansas on the schedule every year, if those cowards will continue to play us. Over time, I’m sure some SEC games will develop some buzz and turn into rivals as well. Arkansas and South Carolina are both promising.

You hit the head on all three. It was an awkward and forced addition to the east that didn’t fit. I think the new schedules will help.

I can respect that from a personal perspective. Well done
However, calling a HOME win over KANSAS FOOTBALL where you trailed a lot of the game a “good performance” is not something most SEC teams would do (bball would be different). That seems to be more evidence of a lack of SEC mindset (fan kicking incident aside). I’ll give them it’s a rivalry, but Kansas isn’t even on Gtech’s level let alone Clemson or FSU. Are they even on Louisville’s level in terms of a non-SEC rivalry?

Kansas this year could beat this Alabama.

Very AU troll thing of you to say, but unfortunately is still negative points for SEC attitude.
I’m actually on record that we’re going to struggle with Mizz this year. Road 11am game where you have an extra week of preparation. Still won’t help you with the SEC mindset, though. You’ll probably act like AU then too.

“good performance”
The final score was misleading, it was much worse than that. Mizzou outgained ku by over 350 yards. The early scoop and score by ku was a big momentum play early, catapulting them to the 21-6 lead after 1 quarter. But after that, Mizzou outscored them 36-10.

Missouri still trailed at some point every quarter and also trailed with 5 minutes left. They needed multiple 4th down conversions to win.
Stats like that and still not being able to coast is a problem if you want to admit it or not.

I hear what you’re saying, but I also turned to my son after that scoop and score and said it was the worst thing that could have happened to Kansas’ defense and was way worse than just forcing a punt. Kansas’ offense was moving the ball fine and would have given the defense a rest while probably scoring the same number of points. You guys were already dominating Kansas’ defense, and that just made it worse (while also giving your defense extra rest and breaking some of the flow of Kansas’ offense).
I’ve seen many times when a defense is struggling to get stops and then gets a huge non-offensive TD and has to go right back on the field. The next drive typically doesn’t go well and often times breaks the back of the defense for good.

Go back and look at some of the history between the two teams. Somehow, no matter how shitty they are, kansas always gets amped up to play Mizzou.
I guess you could say it's part of what makes it a great rivalry.

That is all very well, but Missouri fans are acting like they had control of the entire game and they didn’t.
