They would owe him over $19million if they fired him today

With their remaining schedule, bowl eligibility is a 50/50 proposition

As an outsider looking in, it would appear that the Gators are LAGging WAY behind in NIL money

If Gator alums are content to being the 4th best team in the Sunshine State, they can stay the course and hope for another good basketball season or drain the swamp now and start the process of catching Florida State, Miami and South Florida

Compare that 19 mil to Bk's buyout or DeBoer's buyout. Yes they can afford to fire him.

Jedd Fisch of the Gators family
Rhett Lashlee
Some other offensive minded young 40's guy like Spurrier and Meyer were when we hired them

Scott Frost will have UCF in a better place in 2-3 years if they stick with Napier.

Who does Florida want to hire? Kiffin?

Kiffin?
I'd like a Lane Kiffin hire. So what if his ceiling could be 9 wins or so and just missing the playoffs (at Ole Miss at least, if that is indeed his ceiling).

His offense is fun and that would be a major improvement over Napier and the tail end of the Mullen era (after Dan checked out, focused Dan could probably do that too, but once he checked out you can't keep a coach like that).

However, I doubt Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for Florida now. They have better NIL buy in from boosters and is just in better position to be competitive in the NIL era than Florida.

Napier is done. They should have fired him last year. He won’t survive to see October. I think they’ll pull the trigger in a few weeks.

5-8 million was a big deal a decade ago. Now 20 million is affordable.

Nope. Extending him is the answer.

Napier is a good example of where waiting too long to fire a coach can be just as expensive as paying a big buyout early. If the fans, boosters, and players don't believe in the coach, apathy sets in, donations dry up, and recruits/current roster demand even more money to commit/stay. Not to mention you waste 2 more years than you had to after already knowing it wasn't working.

Large companies pay insane severance/buyout packages to get rid of CEO's who have lost investor confidence. Cheaper to pay it than have investors start bailing and the stock drop.

I think the real question everyone should be asking is if Florida can afford to NOT give Napier a lifetime contract?

Money isn’t the issue. We are lagging behind in NIL to maybe 10 programs and that’s because our boosters don’t like Billy. We have plenty of money.

He must have unbecoming pictures of someone in the admin. With buy out of Merlins and the unknowns behind this hire, how many costly mistakes does he get to make?

I think 20 million is at end of season with 10 million due shortly after firing.
