It’s way more than just the $65 million or whatever it is.

It is reportedly around $10.5/year, paid monthly for the next six years or so…

They also then have to go get another coach. Any decent coach would be crazy to take that job after seeing how quickly they turned on DeBoer. So they are looking at another high salary with another guaranteed buyout. Probably an extra $10-$12 mil per year, guaranteed, for a decent hire… and more like $15+ mil per year for a Lanning, Cristobal, etc (and that probably still not enough).

Throw on top of this the increase in NIL that would be necessary to build back a roster after a near certain mass exodus of players…. You’re talking an extra $10 mil per season in addition to the typical NIL costs for at least the first year or two.

And this comes as the fans are all clamoring for a new basketball arena so they can try to keep up with Auburn.

Also, do you let Greg Byrne make another hire or do you have to fire him first? Does he have a buyout? And what will it cost to get a decent AD as a replacement?

Expensive times ahead in Tuscaloosa.

Hey there’s always that a-hole that wears that lank shirt.

Why settle for husky harsin when you can have the real thing?

Firing Greg Byrne would be dumber than firing DeBoer. MSU would throw our current AD out the top floor window to hire Greg Byrne back.

Also, the next coach is going to want Jimbo Fisher type guaranteed money. And then if he loses 3 games a year then? Sheesh.

Things could get fairly expensive after that.

Tbf, I don't think that's what he's asking ...

Alabama would probably take a risk on a young Saban assistant or Kirby assistant instead of going for a big name. If you hit big, you’ve got someone from the south that understands the south.

If you don’t….you don’t hit a huge buyout.

10.5 million * six years = 63 million

I don't think we're there yet. But if it gets to that point I really think it might come to the point that both sides agree it's not working out and neither wants to continue. DeBoer decides he doesn't want to be the fall guy for "post Saban Bama" and takes a reduced buyout just to be done with it.

Deboer is going to be hated in Alabama and a laughingstock nationally either way. Why would he give back money?

DeBoer could lose every game. He isn't going anywhere.

Let DeBoer lose 5 games and Bama will pay it in a heartbeat.

Not if you take the time to read and comprehend the whole thing...even if it is 63 million the writer had considerable millions as incremental and incidental costs. READING IS HARD.
