LSU (13-1)
- 8 wins over ranked opponents
- SEC West and SEC Champions

Alabama (12-1)
- 4 wins over ranked opponents
- No division or conference championship

Head to Head:

LSU 1, Alabama 1 - Road win for LSU, neutral site win for Alabama

By any objective measure, LSU is the national champion.

Sorry Tide, we're using the Auburn criteria to claim this one.

And Bama claims the 2021 title by the same metric.

Georgia 2021 (14-1)
- wins over six ranked opponents
- SEC East champions

Alabama 2021 (13-2)
- wins over six ranked opponents
- SEC West and SEC champions

Head to head:

Georgia 1, Alabama 1 - both neutral site

Sorry Alabama, the metric doesn't work for you. Georgia had a better record and the same number of ranked wins. Split the head to head in neutral sites. Georgia remains the 2021 National Champions.

So far, only Auburn is claiming a bogus BCS title, and they'll never get official recognition by the ncaa for 2004.

When you get the rematch and lost 21-0, that kind of proves who was the best team .

Add that LSU beat the Pac-12 and Big East Champs in addition to winning the SEC. Clearly the best resume of the year

Alabama will be the champion for that year, but if LSU wants to claim a NC (that is all they are), then I will accept it, I understand both sides of the argument. The BCS was available so that hurts your argument, you had a chance to win it and got drilled. Here is some ammo for you. (Okie State should have been in the game, Bama Bias)

LSU’s Stance: LSU does not officially claim the 2011 national championship, despite these non-NCAA selector awards. The university recognizes four national championships (1958, 2003, 2007, 2019) and lists 2011 as an additional season where they were “selected” by non-NCAA selectors (per lsusports.net and Wikipedia). This restraint contrasts with schools like Alabama or Texas A&M, which have claimed retroactive titles based on similar niche selectors. (Add Auburn now)

Anderson & Hester (Computer-Based Ranking): This system, which began in 1997, uses a mathematical model to rank teams. For 2011, Anderson & Hester retroactively selected LSU as a national champion, likely due to their 13-0 regular season, SEC Championship, and head-to-head win over Alabama (9-6 in overtime). While Anderson & Hester is listed among NCAA-recognized minor selectors, some sources note that its retroactive application for 2011 diverges from the NCAA’s consensus, as it does not always align with BCS outcomes.

Congrove Computer Rankings: Another math-based system, started in 1993, Congrove retroactively named LSU a national champion for 2011. Like Anderson & Hester, it emphasized LSU’s regular-season dominance, including wins over three teams that played in BCS bowls (Oregon, West Virginia, Alabama) and a perfect BCS standing score of 1.000.

ETA: Congrove awarded Auburn the 2013 MNC>

Bama curb stomped Georgia while Georgia won in the last few minutes.

Tom Ritter was the head official of that game.

His crew had one of the worst botches in our series history with that INT call near the endzone with Bama driving. Look at Reid’s left hand in the bottom pic.

Bama clearly won the natty that season given the 21-0 blowout. However I don’t understand how teams can win the national title and not even win their conference. UGA in 2021 and Bama in 2017 and 2011. Winning the conference should be the bare minimum to win their natty

Isn't that the year y'all had to vacate a bunch of wins due to NCAA cheating infractions?
