Overshadowed later by the shoe, but IMHO the bigger story in that game was Mullen deciding to not play Kyle Pitts, as some assumed he was choosing to rest him for the matchup against Alabama.

I still maintain that he was never fully brought to answer for that (extremely poor) decision by the media.

I still remember where I was

I had just bought my house and watched the entire game on my phone, sitting on the couch, which was the only piece of furniture I had at the time.

Technically he was on the injured list, but almost guaranteed he was limiting his exposure before the draft.

True, but just anecdotally, I don't believe it.

It was listed as an undisclosed injury, and preceded an epic (probably top-five) matchup for a CFP spot.

I think he had a concussion earlier in the season, so it certainly could've been legit, but I recall sentiment that he was resting him on purpose, as LSU was 3–5 at the time.

I have absolutely no idea how that game was even close. Our team was horrible. The 2020 Florida game and 2021 Bama game (even though we lost that one) were two of the most WTF LSU games in a good way.

Too lazy to look it up. Is that the one that we damn well could've won? I remember a Bama game when we were turrible and we damn near beat them.

Joey Galloway laughing in the pregame when asked “who’s gonna win” was epic.

I bet LSU ML at like +850 because I’m a Homer. That was a fun night.

That's because Mullen's dumbass said that we'd still 100% make the playoffs if we beat Bama.

Yes. That was the game where Lane Kiffin called O and told him it’s ok to blitz sometimes and our defense full of walkons and bench players held Bama to like 6 total rushing yards lol. Sadly Max Johnson’s trash arse and IIRC a fumble when we were going in for the kill shot TD cost us the game.

Can’t blame the kid.

It was later learned that he woke up momentarily in his UF class “History” and heard what he thought was “throw shoe” and “get bush.”

He was just confused.
