A lot of people are saying that Va Tech and NC State should/will join the SEC. Sankey would never bid those schools because he is an elitist. In order to catch Sankey’s eye, you have be from a new/non-SEC state, AAU, or have a massive national following. The only thing that NC State and Va Tech have going for them are that they are in new states. Sankey views these schools as redneck shitholes. He would much prefer to have UNC, UVA, Duke, and Notre Dame. Because they are prestigious universities and Notre Dame has a huge national following.
So why did A&M and Missouri get in? Aren’t they redneck shithole schools just like NC State and Va Tech? Well, Slive let them in. Not Sankey.

UNC is fine, NC State is not. They're not a big enough program.
VA Tech is fine, Virginia is not. UVA sucks arse, is completely devoid of Southern culture, and would be the east coast equivalent of adding Berkley into the conference. No thanks.

I think it is a prestigious tech school.
You have to know that I don’t weigh universities like publications do.
They still think woke ivy league schools are great education. Their degrees are worth more at the moment. But I’d rather hire a sales person from UNC than Columbia.
I want someone that had to earn it and did not legacy their way into an Ivy League schools
VT is a great tech school. However, their iron was hot 20 years ago. Beamer and Bill Snyder did great things with their respective unis.
I say all that knowing that Sankey probably doesn’t care one bit about the AAU. What does AAU do for TV sets?
Would he ever consider kicking out Alabama since they aren’t AAU?
So all that to say:
I don’t want to expand.
But if we do, I want:
Clemson
FSU

I don’t disagree. But Sankey doesn’t care what you or I think. I’m just telling you that schools like Va Tech, NC State, FSU, and Clemson aren’t even on his radar. All of those schools plus Miami will have to go to the Big 12 after expansion is over.

First of all, you don’t know that. But to say that academics equals money in the college football viewership market is laughable.
The AAU means nothing. There is no real rush to add Georgia Tech because they are AAU.

Texas A&M is AAU accredited unlike most of the SEC. If the Aggies wanted to join the B1G all it would take is a phone call to their Commissioner and they would be invited. And with a full payout share.
Texas A&M provided the critical mass for the SEC Network launch.

Georgia Tech would not bring a new state or a large fanbase like UNC and Notre Dame. And yes, the SEC bylaws say that an original member cannot be kicked out.

You had a 12 year head start on Texas to use the SEC to crawl out of little brother status and you failed. No, conference by laws are not keeping FSU and Clemson tethered to the SEC. That’s the tv contracts. SEC bylaws say that original members cannot be kicked out.
