What Zach Arnett did to that team was a joke. He took a 9 win team to the dumpster.... over night.

Was the dumbest shite I have ever seen. From the people who hired him, to his decision to take a team tooled for an air raid and make it into whatever the hell that was.

I watched and laughed my arse off when the OL went into 2 different directions leaving the RB exposed up the middle. Seasoned OL at that. Pulling the wrong direction...etc...

Last year was at least better on offense but the defense was a joke!

So what is the story going into this season?

They are predicted to finish #16 in the conference.

Lebby has an enormous challenge on his hands.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect. I went on the 247 site not long ago to see if we have a chance to be good this year, but I haven’t seen anything that would point to that.

I mean, their Head Coach did pass away suddenly while on the job. But yeah, it is confusing to see a recently well respected team look so inept.

It’s just going to be more of the same, and I’m not sure the average state fan can take much more of the same!

NIL is going to hurt them more than most.

The Golden Triangle just doesn't have the commercial opportunities as other areas for endorsements.

We will be improved this year. But of course, that is not saying much since the bar from last year was very low. I do believe Lebby is a good coach but we understand that some patience is needed. Leach’s death coupled with the Arnett disaster has really hurt the program. I will say the Arizona State game, September 6th is very important. Win that game and the team suddenly will have some confidence. The schedule sets up for a 3-9 type season but if the aforementioned game is a win, then I can see us winning 5-6 games this season.
I think I speak for most fans when I say we need to competent and competitive on the field each game and maybe sneak up on a conference team or two for an upset win.
We will see how it goes.

I saw that. They will have to prove themselves.

If he wins 7 games... give him COY! That is how bad it was.

Yep. I can see an SEC without a MSU in it if this continues.

Awesome! I saw him say he is at 80% his team meaning in recruiting. I assume he addressed the DL and the OL??

Their new baseball coach may be the best in the country.

Football, they’re still recovering from suddenly losing a HC. R.I.P Pirate. Will always appreciate State for bringing that legend to the SEC.

As a bonus, the SEC scheduled the most difficult SEC schedule in back to back seasons as gift in rebuilding our program with a first year coach.

Gonna be another tough year in the name of a complete rebuilding.

SEC prolonging the issue with the schedule. And bring a tough Arizona State back in the OOC.

Whenever we can finally draw a Missouri type schedule that they have been playing for years, we may can build some momentum.

Yea but I’d rather get this type of schedule when we are terrible than get it when we have a decent team.

I’m rooting for Lebby obviously but it’s a big hole to dig out of. Especially for a first time head coach. We did raise more bulldog club/NIL money than we ever have in the last 12 months. That’s something our AD Selmon is good at.

Leach dying while we didn’t have an AD in place thus allowing Keenum and co. to run the show during that difficult time proved to be disastrous for us.

Their mistake was not naming Arnett as an Interim coach. They just threw him straight into the deep end and he was nowhere near ready. The smart thing would have been to name him interim with no power to fire staff while you look for the right guy as HC.

I think it’s good news. It shouldn’t be much different than the past several years. So they will be really really bad at football!

Why do people say stupid things like this?

Is the B1G going to get rid of Purdue, Maryland, Northwestern, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Michigan State for sucking?
