Saban is coming back to Bama. Here's why.

There’s usually a kernel of truth behind every rumor—let me explain why I believe that’s the case here.
Saban's Increased Presence in Recruiting:
There’s no denying Nick Saban has been more involved in recruiting lately. In fact, his efforts have been visible enough that the media even asked Xavier Griffin’s mother—whose son is a top 5-star linebacker recruit—about Saban’s role in his recruitment.
Photo Evidence Fueling Speculation:
Prior to this, Auburn fans were already speculating that Saban was recruiting for Alabama again, citing the numerous photos he’s taken with current recruits and commits. The visual evidence has only added fuel to the fire.
Multiple Sources Reporting the Same Story:
Contrary to what some believe, Greg McElroy wasn’t the first to float the idea of a Saban return. George Wrighster—a respected college football commentator with a strong West Coast following and NFL background—posted a YouTube short on July 4, 2025, discussing this very possibility. LINK
Sexton Connection and Auburn’s Shift in Tone:
Saban, Kalen DeBoer, and Hugh Freeze are all represented by Jimmy Sexton. I believe many of these rumors are originating from Auburn’s side, especially since Freeze’s previously strong in-state recruiting momentum seems to have hit a wall. It’s worth noting that Freeze has longstanding relationships with both Saban and DeBoer—dating back to their NAIA days. He even recommended DeBoer to Indiana’s Tim Allen as a potential OC years ago. If Freeze is saying Saban is recruiting, it’s likely because he knows something concrete.
A Seamless Path for a Saban Return:
If Saban were to return to Alabama, the transition would be smooth. He already knows the majority of the current roster and may already be behind the scenes—scouting, influencing, or even directing recruiting activities.

I thought Kalen DeBose was the best?

It may not be a cultural fit for he and his family. Also, DeBoer may want to go to the NFL. I actually thought he'd be the one to go to the NFL and not Grubb.

He is on the staff to do exactly these things. He still has an office on campus.
So....

Right. So, what's stoking all these coaching return rumors? What's changed?

McElroy didn't start this rumor as I've shown.

Yeah, and what was her response? It was that Saban didn't offer them and he didn't talk to them at all during the recruitment. So, as usual, you appear to be spot-on with your analysis!

Not happening nor would I want it to happen. And why on earth would you embarrass us in public like this? Grow a pair and support the current staff. We hired as good of a coach as you could possibly ask for considering how tough it is to replace a legend. See Bowden and Paterno’s last 5 years if you actually want Saban back in his mid 70s.

Honestly, I don’t want Saban to return. During his last two to three seasons, there was a noticeable decline in player development and the overall quality of his coaching staff. He struggled to attract the elite assistant coaches he once did—and even Saban himself has acknowledged that since retiring. If those same coaches were already hesitant to work under him without a long-term commitment before, why would they jump at the opportunity now with even less certainty?

Take it up with the media who asked her. Why are they asking her?

Why would you write this dumb shite? Seriously.

Where do you see that "the media" asked her? She apparently made that statement in response to dumbasses on the internet claiming Bama was getting commitments because Saban was recruiting them, rather than DeBoer and his staff.

AL.com looked into this:

AL.com spoke with several people familiar with Alabama’s recruiting behind the scenes and those aware of Saban’s post-coaching life. The consensus among them was that Saban’s involvement in the last official visit weekend was a one-off, not a regular occurrence.
