I wonder how he remembers it better if it was Only a half a title he won?
Thats like saying he was playing video games and forgot about a full bowl of cereal he had on his lap and let it go soggy,
But remembered the half a bowl with less visible sparkles of colorful sweetness to grab his attention from a bowl he had several months ago!

Coach Saban did not become who he is until BAMA. He went from a good coach to an All-Timer. He learned how to build and maintain success in Tuscaloosa.
Given that he was being introduced into the Waterboy HOF, why not say nice things? It got him to the MECCA of college football.

No. Not really. I 100% understand where he's coming from. Of the six national championships he won while at Alabama, nothing will ever beat that first one for me for several reasons:
1. I was a student there at the time
2. We went undefeated
3. Beating Florida for the SEC title and beating Texas for the BCS title
4. Our school's first ever Heisman Trophy winner (Mark Ingram II)
5. Six AP 1st Team All-Americans (tied for most all-time)
