Left out of the national championship celebrations for the last two seasons, the SEC is eager to retake its mantle as college football’s most dominant and accomplished conference, and there are plenty of teams in the running to do precisely that.
ESPN has revealed its preseason 136-team college football rankings, a database of predictive analytics that look to forecast how each team and conference is expected to fare in every game of the forthcoming 2025 football season.

6.1 wins = Hogs bowl
LSU fans will become untigerable with 7.9 wins

Well the fact they put Ohio st in the top 5 and ranked them above Penn St and their daddy (aka; Michigan) automatically makes that a dumb list.

God I can’t wait for people to see this revamped LSU squad. Defense will be top 25 and offense will be top 10

If LSU wins 8 games this year the wheels are coming off. Like, get out the riot gear and hoses coming off.

Bama and LSU should switch places on that list. Bama wins 8 games this year most likely. 9 with some luck.
Their coach couldn’t even make a 12 team playoff with a team that was one play away from playing in the national championship game.
It blows my mind how many idiots forget this.

FPI is a shitty metric.
It pretends to be a computer metric, when in reality it's heavily influenced by human controlled variables to get the results they want. Then they just label it computer results so people can't say "ESPN bias".
The only thing a real computer could do at this point would be take the stats from last year and extend them to this years schedule. Which is what any computer rankings that have rankings before week 4 is probably doing.
Doing such is not a bad baseline, but they quickly change and it have nothing to do with the actual quality of teams in the present year. It's just a good base because most teams don't often change in huge ways from year to year, and it's not predicting anything.

I don't put much value in it either, but I love to talk football.
