With its baseball national championship win on Sunday, LSU joins elite company among the country's winningest programs.

LSU boasts three national championships apiece in football and baseball.
Alabama's six national titles are all in football while Florida has three in men's basketball, two in football and one in baseball. The Gators won the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
UConn trails the three SEC schools with five national championships, all in men's basketball. Ohio State, Oregon State, Duke, and North Carolina are all tied with three apiece between the three sports

Weird that you started at 2001. Why not 2000? LSU would have 7 titles (4 baseball and 3 football). Covers the last 25 years. Usually people go in 5 yr increments. Adds one more title to the SEC.

1 football championship = 5 basketball championships = 9 baseball championships

Interesting they say in the title “ this millennium” but yet they cut off 2000 in the data.
Now why would that be? Hmmmm…
LSU actually leads the way with 7, then Florida and Bama each with 6.

What, no Texas?
But they've assured us they're the greatest athletic program of ALL TIME!

2001-2025 is a 25 year window.
We humans tend to like our factors of 5.

Because the millennium started in 2001, not 2000.
Because there is no "year 0" - the original calendar was created by the Roman Empire. The Ancient Romans had no concept of "0" - hence why there is no Roman Numeral that represents zero.
The first year is 1 AD - Anno Domini, which means "year of our Lord".
Each decade, century, and millennium starts at the year "1", not the year "0".
Yes, yes, we like our round numbers. Apparently more than we love Jesus in the case of some folks.

2001-2025 encapsulates 25 seasons.
If you started at 2000 you wouldn't count your latest baseball title.

18 teams with more than one championship in this timeframe.
Props to Bama tied for the lead with only one sport.
Props to the schools with national titles in multiple
Miami: football, baseball
Texas: football, baseball
UVA: baseball, basketball
Florida: all 3
LSU: football, baseball
Maybe it does feel great to be a Florida Gator after all.

Don't try explaining it to LSU fans. It's just too confusing for them.

But we stopped using the Julian calendar in 1582.
We use Pope Gregory’s calendar now.

Which doesn't change anything, as the Gregorian calendar is a correction of the Julian calendar. The Gregorian calendar did not retroactively add a year 0.
