Who is the greatest in state guy to play football at your school. Some of the schools have multiple people worthy of a debate. Other schools have obvious choices. Here is my debatable list:

Obvious
Tennessee: Reggie White
Auburn: Bo Jackson
South Carolina: Jadeveon Clowney
Arkansas: Darren McFadden
A&M: Johnny Manziel
Ole Miss: Archie Manning
Hail State: Fletcher Cox

Debatable
Texas: Earl Campbell or Vince Young
Oklahoma: Jason White or Sam Bradford
LSU: Ja'marr Chase or Malik Nabers
Georgia: Herschel Walker or Stetson Bennett (this warrants a discussion)
Alabama: AJ McCarron or Antonio Langham or Johnny Musso
Florida: Tim Tebow (wasn't born there) or Emmitt Smith or Danny Wuerffel

Kentucky and Vandy: I have no idea
Missouri: Cody Schrader maybe?

Uhh, what? Don’t get me wrong, those dudes were good, but they’re not on the same level as:
John Hannah (born in GA, raised in Bama)
Cornelius Bennett
Kenny Stabler
Julio Jones
Lee Roy Jordan
CJ Mosley

I know Cody is still running free down that sideline vs y'all, but we've had a few Missouri boys play in the league, a couple are even in the HOF.

Tons to choose from. The 2 in the OP were great. Add Honey Badger and Dorsey to the list.

As the lone homegrown Heisman winner, I guess that sets Cannon apart.

LSU has so many:

Honey badger
Leonard Fournette
Jamar chase
Justin Jefferson
Malik Nabers
Odell
Jarvis Landry
Laron Landry
Devin white
Glen Dorsey
Marcus spears
Jeremy hill
Andrew Whitworth
Corey Webster

And these are just the guys in the modern era. How could you pick just one?

not really. If you asked every UGA fan is they want prime HW or prime SB on the team right now it would be unanimous HW

You have to pick just one. And its about picking who was the perfect mixture of representing their home state, being the best player, and achieving success in the programs history.

Stetson Bennett was a heisman finalist, SEC champion, two time natty champion, and had the best single season for a QB in UGA history maybe. It actually is kind of close I think

Chad Jones (Two Sport greatness)

ETA: Louisiana is just filled with great athletes

ETA2: While not the greatest, T-Bob deserves recognition for his abilities. Not many people out there are true "Plug and Play" offensive linemen. He could play every position on the line, whenever needed.

I'd pick the Honeybadger based on these criteria. Absolute stud despite not being the biggest or fastest. played with an attitude and a chip on his shoulder like many in Louisiana carry. Also self destructed and ruined his own college career just like our state kicks itself in the nuts time and time again. But despite that, he persevered and kept on keeping on and has had a great NFL career.

Oo I forgot about Glenn Dorsey, he probably actually would be my vote. I didn’t put Billy Cannon because he was born in MS but I guess he qualifies. Idk isn’t Malik Nabers y’all’s all time statistical leader at the WR and didn’t Chase have the all time best season at WR? Idk those were just top of the head but yall pick. I ain’t from LA so what’s it matter?
