Figured its worth starting a thread over. First PGA tour Major for him I think, or am I wrong there? I know it isn't his first PGA appearance. +2 on the first round, tied for 26 currently. Very solid start. At one point was -1 and the low amateur.

His NIL should be exploding right now.

I love he wants to come back to Auburn and is a great teammate.

Repping the AU shirt as well today. Its pretty awesome he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to go pro. Then again, now it seems less necessary if he can participate in a few events while still in school anyways.

His game has been exceptional … especially his short game

Koepka
Dechambeau
Henley
J Day
Woodland
Rahm
Molinari
Matsuyama
Morikawa

…. all are wishing they could be at +1 with Auburn’s Koivan right now

I would never finish a round with 5 inch rough. If I found my ball, I probably could not advance it very much.

These guys a good.

I’d be happy if Sam Burns won at this point. He’s great

I am trying very hard to get into this tournament but it is not easy. We need a hero today to make a move so tomorrow is fun

It’s not been great tv watch. I enjoy watching the pro’s really struggle every blue moon, so I’m enjoying it, but the leaderboard and play has largely been pretty ho hum.

Hoping Adam Scott pulls it off so it’s at least got a good story.

Agree

Great win for him. He pretty much lead the thing from the first day. Just fell off yesterday on the front. What a great comeback and a couple of epic meltdowns

Was boring 99% of the tournament. At least they made it interesting at the end

Met his parents at US Open and walked a few holes talking with them on Friday. Really nice people and good parents.

It is a crazy situation though with the amateurs. The parents are so proud and taking in how cool it is, the three amateurs I saw though all played poorly Friday and were dejected.
