Sad. I was a fan of this kid. He decided to retire from football today as his leg hasn’t fully healed. I hope this man has success in his life outside football.
I don’t want to look up the injury, but did he get rolled on? Was it one of those drop weight tackles that roll up your legs? Are those illegal in college now too or just NFL?

I remember thinking that he could have nerve damage because it looked so violent & severe.
A Southern Miss player had to have his lower leg amputated because of the damage from a knee injury. Blood flow never recovered.
State had a d-lineman die on the operating table from complications due to a broken leg.
These kids risk a lot to play a game

If he stays healthy, good chance Florida State wins the national championship.

Yep, those guys are showing out in the NFL.

What pisses me off is that it happened in a game against a garbage FCS team that never should have been played.

You can’t tackle high these days, unfortunately, now there are more missiles coming at your legs. If they aim at the knee, or your cleat is planted, it could get ugly fast.

Yes, it was a hip-drop tackle which, unfortunately, is still legal in college.

I had knee reconstruction waaay back. So long ago that I have a cadaver tendon in my knee.
My ortho made the remark that if they invented a game where you got points for wrecking the other teams knees, it would look a lot like football

I was always told by older men to take care of my knees bc knee surgery always lingers, is that true? Can you bounce back close too 100% or probably not?

Taking care makes it easier to come back. The stronger you are & the better shape you are in makes a huge difference in rehab.
I snow skied for 15 straight years, after surgery, and never had a problem.
I’m old & fat now, but it’s not my knees that bother me LOL

I popped my hamstring twice. It still tightens up with the wrong movement 15 years later, or if it’s gonna rain or a cold front is coming in. It’s funny how a change in climate tightens it.

They certainly would have avoided that epic arse kicking by Georgia. No telling how many other FSU players were injured in that game. Kirby made that arse quit.

Travis probably would have won the Heisman if he wasn’t injured. Any team without their Heisman talent isn’t the same team.

Really unfortunate how it happened too.
I think they were down early to a middling team and he was clearly(idk, I was drunk probably) tried to put the team on his back with a super physical run up the middle and at the end someone came in while he was fighting to stay up and wrecked his leg.

Which is why they should be happy with their free scholarship and food am I right?
Lol.
The current climate sucks but all of this is the retribution for the two decades before which TV networks, universities, ADs and coaches raked it in big and instead of creating a controlled system to take care of players; stuck their heads in the sand like dumbasses

Agreed.
I too am shocked that the NCAA created an environment which rewards the haves & punishes the have nots

Always thought Jordan Travis was overlooked for how good he was…great college QB. He always seemed to have a good attitude as well, so I bet he is a success in life without playing football.
On knee injuries/surgeries….i had torn cartilage in both knees removed, then bent one leg backwards and tore off three ligaments…..I had surgery and rehabbed like crazy and it took years to get back close to what it was, but I was never fully confident in that knee. Then as an old man that knee I tore up began hurting and I ended up having to get a knee replacement, glad I did it due to the pain, but my knee was never the same after I tore it up.

My college roommate torn his ACL and meniscus in basketball. It took him 1.5 years to fully recover. He re-injured it about 5 years later getting off an airport shuttle and stepping awkwardly.
It was also a non contact injury. He got hurt on an awkward jump he was all alone. Most freak accident, what are the odds moment I witnessed, to tear up a knee on a layup gone wrong.

It was a strange game also. They went down 2 possessions early and he was trying to make a play.
