Cfb? Wouldn't surprise me if it was this fall.

I meant when fall comes around players not attending practice til they get what they think they should get.

Seems like that'd be a waste, they can't transfer until the winter portal so they'd have to sit a year if someone calls their bluff.

ETA- not saying kids won't do it, just thinking it probably won't make sense for many.

Isn't this similar to what Bangally Kamara just did to us/Shane Beamer this past year? It wasn't directly because of NIL but rather playing time but he quit on the team to save his last year of eligibility and transfer at the winter window.

If a kid isn't going to play anyway, it makes sense to sit.

Not really otherwise though, unless you're already a surefire top draft pick and you don't want to risk injury.

If Nico takes a pay cut at a step down, which seems entirely possible though not guaranteed, I hope it gives pause to anyone thinking about it.

And if they do, I hope they get told to kick rocks. I'm not anti-NIL. I am anti-NIL and unrestricted transfers multiple times a year.

I've said for a long time players should get compensated, but the current system is just dumb. And every time I talk about it, I blame the NCAA for being stubborn, greedy, behind the 8 ball mfers that had decades to see the writing on the wall and do something.

Instead the courts said y'all are fricking idiots. There's no reason not to give the players what they want, consequences be damned.

As a former college athlete that's now in my late 30s, I guess that's my boomer soap box.

Kamara was our LB4 on a 4-3 defense so he was the next man up in the rotation and played 30 snaps the game before he decided to sit out. And if any of our top 3 guys got injured at any point he was slotted as the first replacement option.

He asked Beamer if he could sit the rest of the season and start next year and Beamer told him that he should make other plans because we're not gonna tolerate quitters.

Maybe, but not at halftime against a big rival. It’s coming. You know it’s coming.

Sitting out bowl games 6-7 years ago was a shot across the bow.

That happened to a lot of teams last year. Some teams had several guys quit in the season. UCF and Indiana both had over half a dozen guys quit to preserve eligibility IIRC

They won’t near the same leverage at the negotiating table early fall. Now end of the season holdouts, yhat could become a thing

Cam Ward quit on Houston like 4 games deep into a season to go get bigger NIL money

Where have you been for the last 35 years or so? lol

I remember the big NFL strike in the late 80’s with most the leagues players all holding out.

I also remember Emmitt Smith holding out in 1993, the year after the Cowboys won their first Super Bowl. Jerry caved after they started the season 0-2.

But.. yeah Angel started it. lol

All this bullshite is making me care a lot less about college football.

College sports are currently destroying themselves.
