Before I go any further let me state that the University of Tennessee absolutely did the right thing letting Nico hit the bricks. He was basically holding the team hostage. Having said that, Tennessee was also at the forefront of this whole NIL stuff and that opened the floodgates for what we have today in college athletics.
So congratulations Vols for helping frick up a fine sport and in part here's hoping the Fulmer curse continues.

Because Alabama would never ever pay a player under the table

Wrong, NIL was already rampant. The NCAA failed to implement rules and regulations and continually made changes.

This went way over my head. How does OU have something to with this?

I mean if you really want to go digging deep, then you can blame the passage of the 13th and 14th Amendments. That Really started it.

I assume he’s referring to the Supreme Court case from the 80s.

Of course.

One school did all this, and it was Tennessee.

Funny how LSU and Auburn were both better when 'Alabama was the only team paying players.'
