Least good QBs to win national championship?

In this millennium, I think it's either McElroy or Craig Krenzel. I'd probably rank Ken Dorsey third to last, since I'm not really that impressed with his performance with the talent he was surrounded by.
If you go beyond this millennium, it's John Shaffer.

Bama had a couple for sure. Bama’s most elite years were driven by QBs dubbed, “Game Managers”. That was an interesting era. But now that DT’s are all the rage, I can’t see them going back to a pro style system they used to run.

Yeah I was gonna go with Matt Flynn

Matt Flynn at least tricked enough NFL GMs into a fat pay day so I’m gonna say he doesn’t belong on this list.

Greg McElroy still holds the 5A record for touchdown passes in Texas, 2nd in all of Texas history behind Graham Harrell. Dude goes from being one of the greatest high school QBs ever to being a total bum at Bama lol

If we are going to name an Alabama QB from the Saban era, it's probably Coker. Greg made it as an NFL backup for awhile, Coker didn't get drafted and didn't make a roster. I think he might have done some practice squad duty at best. I think he was awesome though.
But then going back further than Saban, there is Jay Barker. He threw more interceptions than TD's in 1992. He did manage to get drafted, but didn't make it far in the NFL and he had 2 more years after 92 to get better.

Yep. Total bum. Apart from winning a national championship, winning the 2009 SEC Championship Game's MVP award, and leading the offense on a game-winning drive against Auburn in the Iron Bowl that year, he didn't accomplish anything.
And that's ignoring his senior season where he threw for almost 3,000 yards in a run-heavy offense and completed almost 71% of his throws.

Jay Barker
An underrated talent while at Alabama. Yeah, 1992 was a poor season statistically for him, but he came through in the clutch when he was needed that year. He was having a brilliant 1993 season before it was derailed by an injury and he was a Heisman finalist in 1994.

Matt Flynn at least made NFL rosters for several years. Matt Mauck only played 2 games in the pros with no TDs and one INT.

I've gotta put Coker in over McElroy. Most forgettable NC-winning QB at Bama for sure.

Matt Flynn, Jason Campbell, Jackie Coker. Chris Leak had talent, it just didn’t translate.

No Auburn fan but Campbell at least started 79 games in the NFL. That is 72 more than the other 3 combined.
