This pissed me off a bit this morning. Nothing I can do (but not renew) but it pissed me off.
Digital damn tickets. One credit card charge.
We finally get a good home game season and they frick us.
25% increase in donation + Increased tickets and sneaky fee + Athens hotels also increased.
$2,340 - Base ticket renewal (end zone seats had since 1900's)
$1,500 - Minimum contribution
$6,200 - Rooms for the 4 (good) home games (2 night min, they jacked rate again)
$1,967 - 5 nights Amelia (LOL it is almost same as 2 nights in Athens)
$TBD - Deck parking that used to be free
$WLOCP tix - TBD
So, $13k.
Hate doing the Athens rooms but moved out of ATL and zero reason to get tickets if you can't enjoy the tailgating with friends + games that end at midnight.
Hope we can catch the ball this year.

Part of me says it's expensive because it's worth it.
The other part says wtf..... It's a school sport not the NFL.
Scalpers will just by them up if fans stop buying season tickets so long as the team is good.

Corporate interests have driven everything sky high. If it’s not coming from a company account for 8 tickets it’s coming from a business owner who uses gameday tailgates, hotels, and tickets as a business write off to host clients.
Perils of ascending the mountain while occupying the Atlanta market; all the Fortune 500 and start up interests stationed in the metro area see Athens now more than ever as an entertainment opportunity for out of town (or alumni) clients.
The more they price out the average fan and their families, the more inventory they have for deep business pockets.
It’s also why you should t be surprised when Brooks unveils a Sanford Stadium master plan this Fall that could feature wrapping the 600 level and expanding the stadium capacity. While that’s insane to think about in an age of waning attendance around the sport, Georgia is uniquely positioned with its proximity to an ever growing business market in Atlanta to expand the stadium footprint and reseat us peons to the upper decks and station the Magill+ interests in the lower bowl with renovated seat backs like you see in NFL.
No other school (save maybe Auburn and Florida) can really pull that off with any degree of confidence due to the lack of proximity to a corporate hub.

if we took the 600s all the way around west side our capacity could be damn near 200K people. considering we typically have issues filling in the NE 300s adn west endzone for less than stellar opponents as it is, I would be absolutely stunned to add 50K+ more seats. All the corporate folks you mentioned aren't gonna keep things up when the day comes that we start going 8-4 again, and surely Brooks knows it.

I think it’s more likely than not that we do something with that space. In fact I’ve had some staffers tell me within the past couple of years that it’s an option on the table.
I think more likely is that that they build a Texas style scoreboard and adjoining sweets on top of the west endzone plaza area but capacity is going to increase somehow in order to add or create more premium seating

I don't know anything so I'm not saying that isn't happening, but man it seems odd that we would buck the trend and be the ONLY big boy program making strides to massively increase capacity. Everyone these days is either changing out normal seats for premium stuff as you metioned, or decreasing capacity just in general. Our 200 level is a joke and always has been, they need to start by making that an ACTUAL "club level" type environment.

600 level isn't that big, took us from 86000 to 93000. Wrapping it all around would put us in the low 100k and cost a fortune.
We might add boxes all the way across but that would be it.

I'd be alright with enclosing the stadium with some combination of suites and a souped-up jumbotron, sort of like Texas did and MIssouri is doing.
Would make the stadium louder and more intimidation and look way cooler than it does now. Some people talk about the "view," but it's not like you're looking out over historically significant architecture or rolling mountains or Augusta National. It's just some hills with. It's just the book store and some generic buildings built in the 60s and 70s.

I think people are talking about the view from the bridge into the stadium, not the view of the student center from in the stadium. The bridge is iconic for UGA fans.
I saw renditions many many years ago that would encode and build it up with a large viewing so you could still see in the stadium from the bridge, but that’s still lame to me
I don’t think they need to add any more capacity, just keep up with all the extras inside the stadium

I would not buy them at this point personally out of principle, but we do have them tied to our business. They are a legit business expense and pay for themselves in how we use them. If tax laws were to change, we would still use them I would think, but not like we do now and frankly I suspect the prices would drop if they were not business expenses. I hate it for fans who want to go to games, but have a profession that doesn't allow them to use as business. It’s risen a lot more than inflation the last 40 years
Also, Every UGA student should be able to go to games and they should not be able to sell them.

The railroad track was iconic for UGA fans too. I remember when that view went away.

I remember the days when we would go in the 90's after I graduated and people would give us student tickets and they didn't check ID's. You can still go to a the decent non-premium games for around 100 a ticket and if the weather is bad a lot less.

You can stay a little bit outside of Athens and not have the 2 night minimum.

Everything we looked for over the years is so far out that it defeated the purpose.
Athens has built 3-4 new hotels but prices have still gone up last two years.
Springhill Marriott downtown is now $1400 a night with 2 night min.

I stayed there on points a few years back for a game. It had just opened. Them days are long gone.
Athens needs a really large hotel like an Embassy but don't see it.
$1400 a night I will sleep in my car at Walmart.
Who are these people that spend money like that while their kids use student loans for college.....

the older I get, the more it amazes me that a vehicle of 2-5 people can't find ONE person sober enough after the game to drive 30 miles out of town to find plentiful hotel or Air BNB space at a quarter of the price. Hell at a 2 night minimum dowtown with taxes/fees you're looking at $3K for a room you won't be in but to sleep. That's just insane to me.

Or even a limo service would still be much cheaper.

the older I get, the more it amazes me that people can’t separate the joys of a nice buzz during the tailgate and pregame from dry heaving during the 2nd quarter. College kids don’t know any better yet but if you’re in your 30s+ and haven’t figured out how to properly throttle your drunken state up or down to fit a Gameday then you skipped a few too many practices along the way (or you may have an actual substance issue).
